"This was our second experience using JW Roofing and Remodeling. They did a previous job repairing an error by another roofer. Roxanne Derby, the executive administrator, is a seasoned professional with attention to detail. During the whole process she stayed in touch with the repair from "tear off to installation". Along the way she provided numerous suggestions and improvements that helped us end up with a much better roof than the original builders installed. Her working with the "ins and outs" of dealing with our rigid home insurance company proved invaluable! We would definitely use this company again."

"As a homeowner it is always a challenge when it comes to filing an insurance claim. More times than not it means researching your policy to understand what your policy covers and even learning insurance terminology that we don’t necessarily hear every day. I experienced roof damage recently and rather than “patch” the damaged areas (as I had done in the past) I could see it was time to replace the roof completely. I contacted two roofers and as I expected I received two quotes for the same scope of work but with very different pricing. In short, I contacted “Good News Roofing” (Brook Vallejo). As a homeowner I expect a few things from contractors doing work for me; (1) Plain conversation (because I’m not a roofer) (2) Selection and (3) Personal commitment to see the job through to satisfactory completion. I fulfilled my insurance policy obligation and today have a beautiful, leak free, new green shingled roof (that’s what I wanted and that’s what I got). Good News Roofing was fair in their pricing, detailed in their explanation of the scope of work, stayed in contact with my claim specialist, delivered on time and completed on time. This roofing company is locally owned, dispatches friendly and knowledgeable crew members, performed a complete walk around when completed and moved their equipment and vehicles without any disruption to myself or neighbors. I strongly recommend “Good News Roofing” and that you take the time to discuss your roofing needs with Brook. She has demonstrated the things I look for in a contractor/builder. She had my trust as a homeowner soon after we had discussed my roofing needs."

"Showed up on time. They did a great job. They made sure everything is good before they left. After the work, I had no issue with the roof being blown off. They did exactly what they said they would do."

"Aaron is a star. After two supposedly professional roofers gave me ridiculous quotes and told me that even if I chose them to do the work, THEY WOULD NOT GUARANTEE IT! I read Arron's reviews and figured why not, what could I lose. Aaron was prompt, professional and took the time to explain everything. He said that my roof had minor, minor hail damage, and did not need to be fixed at all. Another company wanted to do a "maintenance" for me to the tune of $650.00 with no guarantee. Aaron told me that I have an asphalt roof and they don't need yearly maintenance. Aaron also told me that in 2-3 years, if no major storms hit before, I will probably have to replace my roof. A decent roofer who is honest and helpful. I wish I could make him number one on Angie's list. He deserves it. In 2-3 years I will call Aaron and have him replace my roof. I would be a fool to call anybody else!"

"Fantastic job! Brandon and his team went to work removing the old roofing materials and installing the new roof relatively quickly—and, more importantly—with an emphasis on getting it done right. I appreciate the care given prior to work, during, and up to final walk around to ensure all was correct. Well done, gang!"

"On 1 March 2022 we received outstanding, quality, and professional service from the A Roof 4 U roofing company. They did a complete roof replacement for us. Mike, the owner of the company, was involved with the project from start to finish. Mike was very knowledgeable, very customer-oriented, very honest, and pleasant to work with. Mike made sure the job was done correctly, that the project was completed on time, and with no additional cost. We would highly recommend A Roof 4 U to anyone that wants high quality and very professional work at a fair and competitive price."

"We had our roof replaced today by Storm Roofing and I have to say, from the initial estimate to the completed job, the professionalism and friendliness was one of the main reasons we went with the company. Alfred Trevino is extremely knowledgeable about the process from the insurance aspect to explaining all needs and steps for the roof replacement. They were timely and did a thorough clean up when the job was finished. I will recommend this company to anyone who needs roof repair or replacement."

"I had Roofing Solutions and Construction out to do a demo/replacement of our roof. I personally dealt with Jamison and Dylan, and they did a phenomenal job. They were on time, prepared, and overall very professional. I appreciated their knowledge and the way they took time to explain details throughout the process. I would highly recommend to anybody seeking great, honest work!"

"Steve Decker, the owner, came to our house and checked the roof and the 37 year old sky lights that were installed on the original roof.  This was the second time I had used Decker Roofing.  The company had installed a new roof on the deck several years ago.  I had figured that we would need a new roof plus the new skylights.  Steve said the roof was still in good shape and didn't need to be replaced.  He gave us a price only for the new skylights.  He could have said that we needed the roof also but he is a very honest man.  As I stated I had used his company before and was extremely pleased with the work. When we actually need the roof replaced he will be the only person that I will call. <br />"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in San Antonio, TX

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
