"I was very pleased with Jim and his helper's work. They even did some extra protective work for us on the ceilings. Though I paid a bit more than some of the 'south of the border' offerings around here, I felt it was worth it to have a local guy who was validated by Angie's List, and I was rewarded for that decision. The work did take longer than anticipated, but that was mainly due to the awful amounts of rain we had during August. I will most certainly recommend Jim."

"The job was scheduled to begin on a Tuesday and 3 workman showed up ontime at the agreed upon time of 9 am.  They built a tent out of plastic sheeting in the family room sealing it off from the rest of the house to contain the dust from the jackhammer used to remove the old ceramic tile.  The ceiling in that room is 18 feet and the tent was well constructed to contain the dust to the lower level.  I was very impressed with the dust containment plan they implemented that included fans to exhaust the dust outside and dampening it to keep it from becoming airborne.  It worked exceptionally well.  The tent was constructed in a way to contain the dust to the lower level of the house and out of all connecting rooms, stairways, doorways and the open catwalk above the family room that leads to two seperate wings on the second floor.   <br /> .After the ceramic tile and old hardwood floor removel they installed the new flooring.  The job took several weeks.   I prolonged the job because I made errors ordering the materials.  The materials arrived late and left the workman with little to do until the correct materials arrived.  They painted and made the best of it and completed a bucket list of small jobs my wife threw at them without complaint - and they did NOT charge me for any of those small jobs.   <br /> I paid very close attention to the details of how the flooring was laid and advised them how I wanted the floors to run and where I wanted the seams and cuts.  They laid extremely expensive marble in a large foyer and connecting bathroom, ceramic tile in the kitchen, and 5" plank hardwood in a separate home office and a 900 square foot family room.  The work was performed flawlessly.  I gave them a very demanding plan that required perfection and they executed it perfectly ontime and on schedule.   <br /> Originally I had decided not to spend extra money to paint all of the trim (which was repainted only two years earlier) but they painted it anyway to match the other trim that was painted at <strong>NO</strong> additional cost to me.  It was little things like that impressed me most.  Every day before they started work they laid down rolls of brown construction paper and firmly taped it down to all surfaces to protect both old and new surfaces from the dusty mess renovation invariably causes. They arranged for a large construction dumpster to be delivered and they neatly filled it up with debris from the remodel.  They cleaned up after themselves daily and didn't leave debris or paint stains on my grass, on my porches, patios,, or driveways.  They completed the job about 10 days after the projected completion date but the delay was my fault.  I delayed them by not ordering the right materials.  They never complained or charged me extra for the delays.  They did a fabulous job and I will use them for every remodeling job I do in the future if they are available.  I live in a Country Club Community with strict rules about construction work appearance and cleanup.  They followed those rules the letter and the entire experience was professional and first class in every respect.  My neighbors are clammering for references for this construction company. <br />"

"The cleaning crew showed up first and pressure-washed the entire house, then inspected all of the surfaces to be painted and caulked/puttied/sanded any areas that need it.  The painting crew showed up bright and early the day after the cleaning crew left and began prepping and priming.  This process took 2 days, as they were amazingly thorough in their prep work.  When the actual painting began, it was amazing how quickly they got everything done.  Upon my inspection when they declared themselves finished after a week of being on-site, I only found 4 spatters of paint on one window pane.  Not one spec of paint was on any brick surfaces! <br /> Connie Nola was a great help in my color choices and spent a lot of time matching colors, etc. with the paint store staff. <br /> This is not the first work Academy has done for me.  They also did interior work that consisted of scraping all remaining popcorn ceilings and then painting all of our four bedrooms and 2 baths a few months prior to the exterior painting. <br />  They are my go-to painting contractor.  I trust that whatever project I have will be done beautifully and that I can depend on Connie's opinions of my ideas (when I ask for them).  Love her, love her crew members.  They're the best! <br />"

"Excellent work! Made our tired, old walls and ceiling come back to life! They took down the popcorn and textured the ceiling on the whole living space, painted the new crown and trim and later had them back to paint the interior and exterior of our remodeled sunroom as well as spray the new shiplap/paint the master bedroom. Excellent and clean job! Will have them out to paint the exterior brick next."

"On the Monday before Mardi Gras those strong winds finally began to pull off the roof of the garage.  It was covered by insurance thankfully so I only had to pay my deductible.  Called and spoke to Leonard Wells and he came out measured and did the estimate.  Less than a week later they came out and in a couple of hours tore off the old roof, replaced wood that was needed and put on a nice new roof.  About a year ago these folks also did the roof on my home .  Definitely recommend these folks to anyone who can use the services they provide.  I myself intend to call them in the fall to do siding on my home/  They are professional and  do a wonderful job both with the construction and the clean up.  They made sure there were no nails left behind in the yard or driveway."

FAQs for exterior home or structure paint or stain projects in Saint Francisville, LA

Painting vinyl siding is a budget-friendly way to revive curb appeal without paying for new panels. As long as the boards aren’t warped, cracked, or leaking, a coat of high-quality acrylic paint can buy you another five to 10 years before replacement.

Stick to lighter shades so the siding doesn’t soak up excess heat, and prep the surface well for the paint to bond. If you’re seeing rot or moisture damage, skip the paint and plan for new siding instead.

High-quality acrylic paint is recommended for vinyl siding. Acrylic paint adheres firmly to vinyl surfaces and resists peeling and fading, providing a sleek and long-lasting finish. Ensure the siding is thoroughly cleaned and prepared for optimal results. Your exterior painting pro has the expertise to properly prepare your siding’s surface to ensure proper adhesion.

Priming is not required if the vinyl siding remains in good condition and is properly cleaned. However, if the original color is severely faded or the panels have become porous, priming becomes essential. Priming provides a smooth, even base that improves paint adhesion and enhances durability, ensuring the acrylic finish adheres properly and lasts longer.

A paint sprayer is the quickest, most consistent way to coat vinyl siding. The fine mist reaches grooves a roller can miss and lays down an even layer in a fraction of the time. You’ll still need a brush for tight corners, but a sprayer slashes labor hours and reduces lap marks.

If you’re renting equipment, ask the supplier for a tip size made for exterior acrylics so the paint atomizes correctly and sticks to the siding.

Painted vinyl siding lasts between five and 10 years. The durability depends on the quality of the surface preparation and the local climate conditions. When the siding is thoroughly cleaned and prepped, and high-quality acrylic paint is used, the finish endures longer. In hotter regions, the lifespan may be closer to five years, while cooler climates help extend it.
