"After having a troubling experience with another well known Baton Rouge roofing company, I was glad that Garcia Roofing was a completely different experience. The first part of my experience was meeting with Darrel Walker and going through his thorough inspection of my roof and over my options of repairing vs replacing. I asked a ton of questions and received all the information I needed to make my decision. The process was informative and stress free. The second part of my experience was the roof replacement process. I really appreciated the constant communication from the project manager, Jose Vargas. Jose was able to keep me up to date on the progress of the project and walk me through the work done afterward. I also received messages from the office project team with updates on material deliveries and repair dates. Going through any major home repair or replacement can be a very stressful task. I really appreciated the time, information, and attention to detail I received from the entire team at Garcia Roofing."

"The job was scheduled to begin on a Tuesday and 3 workman showed up ontime at the agreed upon time of 9 am.  They built a tent out of plastic sheeting in the family room sealing it off from the rest of the house to contain the dust from the jackhammer used to remove the old ceramic tile.  The ceiling in that room is 18 feet and the tent was well constructed to contain the dust to the lower level.  I was very impressed with the dust containment plan they implemented that included fans to exhaust the dust outside and dampening it to keep it from becoming airborne.  It worked exceptionally well.  The tent was constructed in a way to contain the dust to the lower level of the house and out of all connecting rooms, stairways, doorways and the open catwalk above the family room that leads to two seperate wings on the second floor.   <br /> .After the ceramic tile and old hardwood floor removel they installed the new flooring.  The job took several weeks.   I prolonged the job because I made errors ordering the materials.  The materials arrived late and left the workman with little to do until the correct materials arrived.  They painted and made the best of it and completed a bucket list of small jobs my wife threw at them without complaint - and they did NOT charge me for any of those small jobs.   <br /> I paid very close attention to the details of how the flooring was laid and advised them how I wanted the floors to run and where I wanted the seams and cuts.  They laid extremely expensive marble in a large foyer and connecting bathroom, ceramic tile in the kitchen, and 5" plank hardwood in a separate home office and a 900 square foot family room.  The work was performed flawlessly.  I gave them a very demanding plan that required perfection and they executed it perfectly ontime and on schedule.   <br /> Originally I had decided not to spend extra money to paint all of the trim (which was repainted only two years earlier) but they painted it anyway to match the other trim that was painted at <strong>NO</strong> additional cost to me.  It was little things like that impressed me most.  Every day before they started work they laid down rolls of brown construction paper and firmly taped it down to all surfaces to protect both old and new surfaces from the dusty mess renovation invariably causes. They arranged for a large construction dumpster to be delivered and they neatly filled it up with debris from the remodel.  They cleaned up after themselves daily and didn't leave debris or paint stains on my grass, on my porches, patios,, or driveways.  They completed the job about 10 days after the projected completion date but the delay was my fault.  I delayed them by not ordering the right materials.  They never complained or charged me extra for the delays.  They did a fabulous job and I will use them for every remodeling job I do in the future if they are available.  I live in a Country Club Community with strict rules about construction work appearance and cleanup.  They followed those rules the letter and the entire experience was professional and first class in every respect.  My neighbors are clammering for references for this construction company. <br />"

"I called them for an estimate and he came right out.  They worked with my insurance company estimate and provided me with prompt and professional service.  They came out and ripped off the old roof , picked up all the debris and nails and put on my new roof.  They did a great job and I would definitely use this company in the future for other construcion needs around my home.  Quick professional service.  No payment requested until the job was completed. <br />"

"Everything went as good as I possibly could have imagined. The entire crew was professional, accommodating, friendly, talented. The whole project was 1st class work, including the custom work done on the gables and eaves due to termite and water damage. The tie-ins to the 2 flat sections, along with the silicone coating were very well done. Quality materials were used throughout. Everything was cleaned up beautifully. The price made me cry, but was very fair and well worth it. I sleep so much better now knowing I have a premium roof on my house. Jacob and Jeremy Hodges are a pleasure to work with and Victor's carpentry skills were outstanding, as was his crew of great guys. I would recommend these guys and this company to anyone who is looking for top quality work done in a very timely manner."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Saint-James, LA

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
