"I had a wonderful time working with Gabrielle. She is a talented and empathetic designer who listened to what I sought in my office remodel. She was mindful of my budget and offered great advice on repurposing a few essential items I already had. The final product was so lovely I could use my office as a recording space for a work video! Gabrielle made my office into an excellent space that my whole family enjoys. I also worked with her on my house purchase and was able to initially use her expertise to look over home inspections, view houses via video chat and help me make a decision on the feasibility of said homes. Gabrielle's knowledge was imperative in my home buying decision. Furthermore, she was also pivotal in a kitchen remodle that I did in my small cottage home, attached to my main house. She helped us think of a strategy for removing a partial wall and also how to best position, construct and install a kitchen island. Needless to say, Gabrielle is a one stop shop for any building, interior and consulting needs that anyone has while building, buying, renovating or decorating a home. I highly recommend her services!"

"My experience with Deborah Hannon started out very positive. She recommended things that really captured the look I was going for in my new home. She asked for payment up front and I made the mistake of overlooking this and paid for some window treatments for two rooms. When I got the quote for some wallpaper I was completely taken back on the pricing. Deborah said she would not upsell me on the prices of the wallpaper. I did some research and was able to find most of the wallpapers much cheaper. I also found an excellent wallpaper installer that was 75% cheaper than the quote from Deborah. So I told her I was going with the window treatments but not the wallpaper. She quickly responded to ask why and I was honest with the pricing was significantly higher. So I ordered soft touch Roman shades and paid in full on October 5th to be ready for a December 15th install. I was told 10 days for fabrication so thought this would be no problem. Communication was terrible after she had my money with excuses each time of why she took so long to get back. On the night before the treatments were to be installed Deborah called to tell me the soft touch mechanism was recalled and the would be manual cords. Then proceeded to tell me they would not be ready for installation. This happened on December 14. She said approximately 10 days. On Jan 9 when I had not heard I started sending emails of which were never responded to. I sent text messages never responded to. I made phone calls never responded to. Finally on Feb 2 I received a text stating they were ready and a date of Feb 6 to install. The installer who had came and put up some temp shaded came and completed the install a very nice young man. So I finally received my window treatments not exactly what I wanted and definitely a price much higher than I would have paid elsewhere. I have since read many reviews in the Cozy Cottage and it seems like I was lucky as several still have not received their product and even local businesses have commented on the dishonest business relations."

"First Class Creation was used by the contractor building our new home but if I had to find someone Cory is the guy I would have went to. He was more than helpful in the design process. Right from the start his involvement made so many of the decisions work out better than my wife and I could have hoped for. The cabinets in the kitchen and bathrooms not only are beautiful but built to last for years. Cory took us through his shop to show us how the cabinets would be built and the craftsman who would be building them were more than helpful in answering our questions. We were so impressed with their work that we also hired them to build the cabinets that were used in our five bedrooms closets. I also found Cory to be honest in telling us what costs were going to be on anything we decided to change as the project continued, and he held true to the prices he quoted. Working with Cory was one of the most enjoyable parts of the project and I would recommend his company to anyone. Ray H."

"Terrible. Paid in advance. They cashed the check, haven't shown up yet and I have weeds everywhere. Hired them after having surgery that prevents me from lifting and fertilizing. In past always did it on my own. Looked for help, but got screwed! Read the reviews on Google, Better business bureau, and elsewhere. I did not do this but wish I had. My advice is hire a local, non franchise lawn company. Steer clear of True Green!"

"I am in the middle of a move with Mohawk righty now and would not recommend them. They committed to delivering our household a week ago and they still have not done so. Even worse, they won’t commit to a new date - saying they have no idea when they can get it here. My calls with them are all words - no action or real support. They were very prompt at taking our cash up front - I wish they were even close to that diligent in delivering their services. Truly - they are the weak link on our move adding so much stress as we sit in our new home with nothing here, and having ti buy stuff everyday just to stay here."

FAQs for kitchen design service projects in Saint Michael, MN

A professional kitchen designer is a specialist in planning and implementing the remodel of kitchen spaces. They'll help you pick materials and styles, give you a quote, render a model, and send the order to manufacturers and installers. You can think of them as creative project managers who will facilitate your kitchen project from start to finish.

No, a kitchen designer can't plan for structural remodeling since kitchen designers aren’t structural experts. Consult a pro for structural engineer fees and inquire about changes like removing a wall. Additionally, for changes to your kitchen's electrical, plumbing, or gas lines, you'll need to hire the appropriate professionals, like a licensed electrician or plumber near you.

A kitchen designer’s process includes the following:

  • Finding inspiration: They may ask for photos, feedback on material samples, and preferred fittings to understand your vision.

  • Using design tools: These include computer modeling software, 3D and high-resolution cameras for recording your space, color wheels, and sketches.

  • Considering appliances and fixtures: It’s important that each item is installed correctly, balances aesthetics and functionality, and is conveniently positioned in a kitchen work triangle.

  • Looking at the whole home: A designer will consider your home's age and style.

  • Writing up plans: After taking measurements, they create a plan based on your specifications.

It takes anywhere from 10 to 20 hours for a professional kitchen designer to come up with a fully fleshed-out plan for a mid-size kitchen. However, that time can increase if you ask for a complex, custom-designed plan. Ask your designer for a quote on both pricing and overall time frame before you start working together to ensure you're on the same page with expectations.

If you're doing an extensive kitchen renovation, hire a kitchen designer to manage the project and ensure things go smoothly for you. A major renovation may include new flooring, countertops, cabinets, lighting, and structural changes like knocking out a wall or upgrading the electrical, plumbing, or gas lines. If you're doing something more minor, like only replacing a sink or painting your cabinets, you can either pay for installation or DIY.
