"I hired Signature Exteriors for a full roof and gutter replacement. From my initial consultation with John Hannaway through to the completion of the project, all aspects of the project were handled with professionalism and dedication to customer service. Particularly, I would like to recognize John Hannaway for his expertise in handling all aspects of the insurance claim process, shepherding the project from beginning to end, as well as his patience with this very inquisitive and picky customer. Project Manager Jennifer Brown did a great job in the on-site management of the actual installation of the roof and later the gutters and gutter guards, all in the midst of an August heat wave. Michael Garrie, Katelyn Brown and Isaac Hinson were all instrumental in the planning, execution and meeting the communication needs of the project. I couldn't be more pleased with my new roof and highly recommend Signature Exteriors' services to others."

"Fidelity Roofing called the same day, scheduled to inspect our roof within the week. (They could have come earlier in the week, but my schedule was the conflict.) He called and was able to come earlier in the day, noticed the issue, fixed it and was on his way. He even took a video of the issue and explained what his repair was. Really appreciated the follow through and thoroughness."

"Excellent. My neighbor had used Troy Fitch (Cornerstone) for his roof and HIGHLY recommended him. I contracted with him to replace my roof, clean the gutters (and make some small repairs), power wash my house and refinish my deck. EVERYTHING was done extremely well and in a prompt time frame. His employees were great, and the communication between the owner (Troy) and the homeowner (me!) went very well.

I was definitely impressed with their professionalism and quality, and their prices were very competitive (not the lowest, but competitive - WELL worth it!) I would DEFINITELY hire them again (and will, to powerwash my house every year and restain the deck every few years).

Great company - don't hesitate to call them."

"I had Kyle's team badly clogged gutters, repair several places where they were pulling off the house, and also install gutter guards. Kyle came out initially and gave us a detailed estimate. Quality work done at a fair price. Recommend."

"They did a great job! My roof looks great! Reliable and kept me well informed about everything. They kept cost in mind and cleaned up nicely after themselves. Serge even came out late to tarp the roof until it could get repaired so that I didnâ t have any further damage to the house waiting for the roof. They were very nice to work with. Great people. I canâ t say enough good things about them!"

"More drama certainly than I'd hoped or intended with this transaction:
- Took a fair bit of effort to communicate, coordinate, and see the project through
- Weather-Tite asserted that the roof had hail damage, necessitating engagement of insurance assessor who (maybe unsurprisingly) disagreed; ultimately no action was taken based on the differing assessments of this unplanned issue
- When work was ultimately performed, there was an incident wherein a caulk gun was dropped off the roof and onto our car's windshield and hood, necessitating windshield replacement and body work
- On the latter, Weather-Tite immediately took responsibility and did pay for this, but again payment receipt took some prodding and reminding before it was finally received

"Not as expected.  My first call went well -- I left a message and was called right back by MI.  We set an appointment for 8:00 - 8:30 the following Wednesday.  I was asked to provide by email the type of circuit panel I had so they could make sure and have the parts that they needed on their truck.  I sent this email the following day, along with confirmation of the date and time of service, my address, general directions to my house as well as my phone number.
Unfortunately, on the date of our appointment, no one showed up or called at 8:00 - 8:30.  I waited and waited until around 9:30, then I called MI.  I was promptly called back and was told that they couldn't find my house and couldn't find my phone number to call and ask for directions.  I am not sure what their plan of action was if I hadn't called (but I can guess).
Finally, someone showed up at a little after 10:00.  He looked at my circuit panel and confirmed that he did not  have the parts that he needed on his truck.  He improvised and used a spare breaker that was in the panel to start with.  I questioned whether this was the best idea, but he told me that "it should work."  He did his work and was gone in less than 45 minutes.
I selected MI based on their Angie's List rating and was somewhat disappointed.  To be told that they couldn't find my address (they appear to rely solely on GPS, without a back-up resource in the event that GPS fails) and couldn't find my phone number (I can look at my cell phone and tell you everyone that has called me in the last two months) was simply not, in my opinion, the level of professional service that I expected from an A rated Angie's List contractor.
Also, for me to have spent the time to send an email to MI with the information to enable them to have the right parts on the truck -- and then find out that they did not in fact have the right parts -- was not what I had expected.  As well, for the tech to tell me that something "should work" when it comes to electricity was a little less than reassuring.
As for the postiives, I can say that when I called MI they were responsive and called me back.  As well, both people that I talked with/met seemed to be nice people.
Given MI's Angie's List A rating -- and the comments of others -- I can only surmise that I caught them on a bad day and that normally they are more with it than they were in my case.  I do, however, have other electrical work that I'd like to have done and can say that I will look around elsewhere next time.

FAQs for heating cable for roof installation projects in Salisbury, NC

A typical heat cable uses 5 watts per foot, regardless of the outside temperature. So, if your cable is 100 feet long, it uses 500 watts per hour. Expect to pay an additional $40 to $200 or more per month on your electricity bill. Be sure to turn manual cables off in the summer when you don't need them.

To install heat tape on your roof, place it along the lower edge in a precise zig-zag pattern to maximize coverage and heat distribution. Professional installers secure the tape with specialized clips that attach firmly to your shingles. This method ensures even heat distribution to effectively melt ice and snow while maintaining your roof's integrity during severe winter conditions.

Choosing between heated gutters and roof heating cables usually comes down to budget, appearance, and performance. Heated gutters cost less to install and blend seamlessly with your home’s exterior, making them a discreet, lower-cost option for preventing ice dams. Roof heating cables deliver more customizable and powerful heat along roof edges to handle heavy snow and ice, but they require more material and labor, increasing your upfront investment. Evaluate your roof design, winter weather demands, and energy budget to select the system that works best for your property.

Roof heating cables prevent ice dams by melting snow and stopping ice buildup at the roof edge. Ice damming occurs when melting snow refreezes on a cold roof—often right above the gutter line—and blocks water from draining, which can force moisture under shingles into your home. Heating cables maintain a warm channel that clears ice dams as soon as they form and protects your roof from water damage and structural issues.

Roof heating cables last between two and ten years before replacement is needed, wearing out faster than your roof itself. Their lifespan depends on climate severity, cable type, and exposure to physical damage. Consistent inspections and preventative maintenance—such as clearing debris, tightening clips, and checking electrical connections—can extend their service life and ensure reliable snow and ice protection each winter.

To safely remove snow from your roof, start with a specially designed roof rake, standing firmly on the ground and pulling snow downhill rather than climbing onto the roof. You can also apply calcium chloride ice melt to break up stubborn ice or gently use a secured rope from a safe vantage point.

Keep in mind that large snow slabs can weigh hundreds of pounds and pose a serious fall risk. If conditions are hazardous or you lack the right equipment, hire a professional to protect your safety and your roof’s integrity.
