"We reached out to four roofing companies to quote our re-roofing project. We compared them on professionalism, quote thoroughness, feeling of trust and integrity with the salesperson, and knowledge. Westshore ranked highest hands down. They were not the cheapest, nor were they the highest bid, but they were the best. We felt so comfortable with Ben, and rather than try to upsell us as others did, he helped us figure out ways we could get the job done within our budget. The quote offered several options which was quite helpful in our choices. During our decision period, we had several questions and he responded immediately every time. When it came time for the work, the crew was always on time and professional. They cleaned up and you could barely tell they were even here at the end of the day. We were glad to see that the crew was able to take several water breaks (in nearly 100-degree heat) and time off for lunch and they still finished the job ahead of schedule. It showed us that Westshore takes care of their crews. We highly recommend Westshore Roofing."

"I originally needed to get my roof redone as part of a solar installation project, and the solar company referred me to Cosmic Roofing as their preferred partner. Due to the unusual roof slope on my house, several other companies had turned me down for this project. Cosmic sent me David A. to go over the initial conversation of the project. We talked about work streams, dates, expectations, areas of concern, and of course the price. He showed me sample tiles, colors, materials, and explained some items that I hadn't taken into account, such as adding new vents to pass the permit process. I felt like David really understood what needed to be done and how he would tackle it. That was why I felt comfortable signing a work order right away. The tiles were delivered within days, which I was pleasantly surprised at. The roof installers came the next day, and did their job efficiently. Permits were reviewed the same week, and I officially had a new roof in less than a month's time. It's commendable how efficient this company is. My house is now noticeably cooler on sunny days because David recommended the white roof tiles. Of course, the fast speed made it easy for the solar company to do their installation too. We're very happy to have worked with Cosmic Renovation and Roofing. It wasn't until I spoke with David that I found out they also do solar installations. I might've had them make a bid for the solar work as well, but since I had already decided on someone else, it wasn't in the cards. Anyways, if you're looking to add solar to your roof, give Cosmic a call for a quote."

"They did what they said they would do and when they said they would do it. Roof looks good and the clean up was also good. The people working on the project were professional. The only thing was communication. Needed a little more conversation over the phone to confirm arrival on first full work day. The sales rep showed up to lay down a plastic cover over a suspected leak and it held up during some very blustery rain. Over all excellent work but expensive."

"I got only two estimates for roof maintenance work. Wonderlin's estimate of work seemed to be more inline with the work that had to be done. Their estimate was also more comprehensive in the work that needed to be done and it was lower priced than the other company. So basically I was getting more bang for the buck. <br /> The estimator arrived on time. <br /> The work crew arrived a little late of the estimated start time but was able to finish the job in less than three hours. In addition to the work they said they would do, they also cleaned out my gutters. The cleanup of the work area was spic and span. <br /> I'm quite happy with Wondelin and I will use them again when I need to replace the roof - 10 years. <br />"

"Everybody I dealt with at PetersenDean was very courteous and professional.  The ones I can name are: Joe Brodnik, Sahar Nessari, Linda Nguyen. The price and warranty were the best of the four quotes I received. The whole process was very smooth and I haven't had any problems with the system.  I'm very glad I chose them. <br /> They have a project status page that provided clear information at every stage.  When I emailed or called, they responded within 24 hours.  I contacted them based on customer reviews and their warranty policy.  The salesman was low key and honest.  He made it clear that there was a waiting list for installation so I knew it would take a few months.  In the end, it was faster than I expected.  They provided clear written plans and handled the city inspection completely.  The connection to PG&E quickly followed. <br /> I highly recommend them.  I have two important notes: <br /> - Be sure to get a clear picture of the schedule.  It's complicated and they may have a waiting list. <br /> - The initial quote on the phone was for a much bigger system than they were able to install.  They can only tell so much from a satellite image of the roof.  Their on-site inspection showed that my roof was more complicated and not ideal for solar.  The quote was adjusted down for a smaller system.  I understood that they were oversizing the system, so I wan't surprised.  Your roof may be simpler, but beware that this can happen. <br />"

"In short, I am totally satisfied. Talked to 5 companies, received 3 estimates, and chose Tri-City for their professionalism, prompt communication, and very competitive price. For estimate, Greg Glaeser, the owner of the business, came pretty much on time, and he was very friendly and thorough in answering my questions. He is the kind of person whom you feel you can trust. Then, the communication with the office was the first rate. My main method of communication is email, and I received a response on the same day from one of Jeannine, Jasmin and Eleanor, sometimes after normal working hours, and they always follow-up on action items, which means they also have good communication among office staff and field workers. They also provided consultation on the shingles, and recommended to visit roofing supply store to see the samples for myself. From that visit, discussion with the Tri-City foreman Oscar, and a bit of research on web, I chose GAF's Grand Canyon over CertainTeed's Presidential TL. And after all is said and done, I think I made a right choice. The project lasted 5 days, with the first day being the Labor Day. The workers came in at 7:30am and worked through the day till 6pm everyday. The roofing was actually completed in 4 days and the 5th day was for picking up the left-over material and clean-up. The people are not very talkative but are very hard working, and they are also very efficient. On the third day when the shingles were delivered as they laid underlayment and started nailing shingles, there were probably 10 people all at once on site, but everyone seemed to know what everyone else is doing and the operation was almost flawless. It must be a result of excellent project management. Another thing I should mention is that when Oscar and I reviewed the project at the end of the fourth day, I noticed that there are rather wide gaps between new gutter and eaves. It is not because gutter was installed wrong, but because the eaves were uneven. The gutters were secure enough but I was concerned about moisture penetration from the unpainted and exposed end of eaves. Oscar offered a solution to have his people come in and paint the exposed parts of eaves, which they did the following Monday. In a perfect world, I probably should have asked to paint the end of the eaves whey they removed old gutters, but then, I do not know if it is what is normally done. In any way, I appreciated the fact that neither Oscar nor Jeannine challenged me that it was not their problem, and they immediately offered a solution, which is what I call professionalism. I was going to write a short summary but this turned out to be an epic novel. I would be amazed if anyone actually read this far, but if you did, I thank you for that. And I recommend giving Tri-City Roofing a call for your next roofing project."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in San Lorenzo, CA

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
