"Calling, setting up appointment to get the estimate, getting the estimate, and having the services performed close to the agreed-to date - only off by one day - all went very well. One delivered tree was different than what was on the estimate I guess due to unavailability, but it was similar. Several of the trees either had a blight or had damaged trunks (one was gouged coming off the truck) and one and quot;didn't look very goodand quot; according to the main person delivering and planting, although they are warranties for a year (our prior landscaper warrantied trees for 2 years, so this was a little disappointing too). The trimming did not really go as I expected. The person who did the trimming hadn't talked to the person who did the estimating, so he didn't know what was to be done. I was home that day, so I was able to tell him. Although, when I told him the plan that his boss had determined for the tree (that had some dead branches, and that his boss said would be cut way back, even on top), he said he didn't know what his boss had in mind, so he just took off the dead branches. Overall, I don't think he was very skilled at trimming the bushes and tree. He also told me to put tree wrap over the gouge on the tree they damaged getting off the truck, but another person in their office told me a few days later to take it off. I was also a little disappointed that the trees were all in pots (indicating they were grown in pots) and not burlap (grown in the ground), so I don't think the overall quality of the tree stock was as good as I've gotten from other places. One of the pine trees also has a damaged/dying top branch, which might be an issue next year if it loses its leader. Now for the billing process...I had given a $1000 dollar down payment a month before the work was scheduled, and which was promptly cashed, but when the final invoice arrived in the mail a few days after the job was done, the downpayment was not listed or deducted! So I made a special visit to their store to get their records straightened out, taking proof of my cashed check, since I didn't think it could have been straightened out very easily over the phone. They took care of the problem quickly, recognizing that they obviously had a glitch in their bookkeeping. So, overall, I give then a grade of B. They were personable and responsive, but the overall quality of product, knowledge of crew, and error in billing keeps me from giving a higher rating. They were still better than some others I have used in the past, and will likely do business with them again, but probably not exclusively.
"

"Tracy responded right away when we called for an estimate. He was very nice and seemed to know what he was doing, showing us samples and telling us what he could do. However, he was very slow in getting back to us after that. The last time I called him on the phone, we discussed some possible changes and I told him I wanted to be on his calendar for August. Then I did not hear from him again. No contract came and no further contact after several weeks. Finally I decided it would be better to hire someone who was more responsive.
"

"The crew arrived on time with all needed materials. They worked professionally and efficiently for 2 and one-half days to complete this project. The contractor, Clint, had gone through the construction techniques with me ahead of time, and left me some literature to read. The walls are very secure with crushed rock, sand, fabric, and heavy mesh to provide drainage and stability. They carefully transplanted three trees that had been in the ground three seasons, and they look good. They replaced our old dirt and clay with a thick layer of topsoil. To gain access to the site, they needed to drive tractors over the lawn, but all of that area was regraded and re-sodded, so it looks great. All members of the crew were polite and business-like, and they worked very hard and very well as a team. Our neighbors were impressed by the quality and speed of the project. The crew cleaned up the area, including sweeping the street. I would recommend Custom Retaining Walls of Rochester to anyone needing retaining walls.
"

"Nick came and gave me an estimate on a Tuesday and took the trees down the next day. This was part 1 of 2. He will be installing a fence, removing a concrete patio area and fixing the really ugly flower beds. He has been very helpful through this whole process. Because of his prompt service I have hired him to do some tree work at my rental property."

"The crew showed up on the date and time promised and they were awesome! They pushed all of our existing landscaping rock back toward the house to make room for the curb machine, then pulled up and disposed of the existing edging. I even caught one of them pulling weeds from out of the rocks! :-) The job was completed in less than a day. One small problem cropped up in that a 10 foot uphill section of the curbing was slightly crooked. It took one phone call and they were back tearing it out and redoing it and it now looks great. Over the summer we did projects with 4 contractors totaling over $16,000 and this was the only contractor we would ever use again. They were wonderful and we could not be more pleased with the curbing. It keeps all of the landscaping rock where it belongs, enhances the flower beds, gives the yard a neat, well-kept look and makes mowing much easier. Owner Mark Westerman is a true professional which is very rare to find in the landscaping contractor field these days!
"

"
Ken did an overall great job of replacing an interior door; picked it up from the company from which I had ordered it, delivered it and within a week, installed it. The door looks amazing.

He also noticed that a handle I had installed on my screen door could use a little work. He took it off, refitted it and didn't charge me a thing. I was totally impressed with his professionalism and his personality won me over. I plan to remodel a bathroom and will use his services.

"

"Their tree selection was the best in Rochester, especially for balled and burlap trees. I wanted a tree larger than a potted tree, so we were looking in the 2and quot; diameter range and we needed two of them. Since these were for the boulevard, we had worked with the city forester to determine our options. Whiting's did offer some suggestions that were also approved by the city. We brought the two trees home ourselves and planted them, but they did have a fairly reasonable charge for delivery and plant. However, I wanted to put the money into getting larger trees, rather than paying for that service. They did an excellent job of getting the trees into the back of the pick up truck (using their bobcat) and securing it for the ride home. It was a bit of a work to get them out of the truck and into the hole, but not too difficult.
"

FAQs for interlocking pavers for patios, walks & steps installation projects in Sargeant, MN

To calculate your paver needs:

 • Determine how many pavers cover a square foot.

 • Determine how many square feet you need.

 • Add an additional 10% to 20% for breakage and waste.

 • Consider your pavers’ sizes.

Or, you can hire a local pro who you know will get the right measurements the first time. This way, you get your weekend back instead of spending it measuring square footage.

A pallet of pavers costs $300 to $700 on average, and each pallet covers 56 square feet. The exact price depends on the type, size, and quantity of pavers you choose. Buying in bulk can sometimes offer additional savings, especially for larger projects. Ask your pro how you can save on material costs.

To get the best prices on pavers:

 • Hire a professional landscaper: Pros often receive discounts on materials, which can make hiring them more cost-effective overall.

 • Shop at local building supply stores: Check for overstock or bulk purchase deals. Bulk purchasing can be more costly up front but save you money in the long run.

 • Buy directly from manufacturers: Purchasing from a local brickyard or paver factory can offer competitive prices, especially for large quantities.

The main difference between driveway pavers and patio pavers is their load-bearing capacity. Driveway pavers are designed to withstand the weight of vehicles, whereas patio pavers aren’t suitable for such heavy loads. You can use driveway pavers for a patio, but using patio pavers for a driveway could lead to damage. Always check the weight limits of pavers and consult with a professional installer to choose the right type for your project.

Paver patios cost more than concrete patios because the materials and installation methods require advanced techniques and skilled labor. They deliver enhanced aesthetic appeal and allow for easier small‑scale repairs without affecting property taxes. The higher expense arises from premium paver materials and intricate installation processes that deliver long‑lasting durability and design flexibility. This robust solution provides notable benefits over concrete alternatives, making it a valuable investment for homeowners.
