"We can't say enough about how delighted we were with not only the results of our total kitchen remodel, but the experience of working with Mike, Ryan and Jared. From our very first contact, they were reliable and responsive, answering all texts and calls promptly and keeping appointments punctually. They offered ideas but were also highly respectful and responsive to ideas we presented, always saying "We can make that happen!", even when we had some really out-there requests like cutting a whole section of cabinets out around our 100 year old laundry chute and installing a stained glass window! Ryan and Jared are superb carpenters; their work is beautiful and they pay careful attention to detail. Best of all they are both extremely polite and pleasant, which really matters when someone is in your home every day for several weeks. They had our kitchen completely demolished down to the plaster and back to being a functioning kitchen in just 4 weeks , including significant plumbing and electrical repairs and upgrades , as well as delays in shipping of a replacement for a damaged cabinet (not their fault!) and our new window. They have well-established relationships with a number of local subcontractors and vendors who are equally reliable and skilled, so the project moved along without any other delays. We would hire them without question to do other work on our home!"

"Found out that our roof was not installed properly because they did not use washers with the nails. They also did not seal off the old vents properly. This has caused water leakage. Check BBB, this company’s accreditation has been revoked."

"Oct, 2022 Roof Replacement on House and Garage. I researched and reviewed all about Roofing at You Tube, This Old House, Books, etc. I was able to get 3 bids to compare. I am very Satisfied with the work done on my Roof. David Stewart (stormmasterroofs.com) was there to supervise the Roofing Project as I also watch the progress done in 1.5 day. He answered every question that I asked and he was pleasant to talk to. Here are the Items that made me select him as my Roofing Contractor: 1) Removal of 2 layers of existing Roofing is included in the price. The others only specified Extra $'s so it may come as a surprise and can charge up to $4,000.00. 2) My Roof is a 50' x 51' plus pitch and only had a 1" x 6" strips of wood as its decking, looking from inside the attic. I wanted the whole Roof re-decked so it is more durable as we are planning to put Solar Panels in the near future. They sheathed the whole roof with 35 pieces of 4' X 8' x 7/16" (O.S.B.) put on top of the existing ones ( 1"x6"). He charged labor at $35 per sheet plus the cost of each sheet which is about $24 each including taxes. Thus $59 each sheet labor and materials. Others may be charging $75 per sheet labor and materials. 3) The Items furnished and installed were the ffg: a) Ice and Water Shield (on the roof edges), b) granulated water proofing on the eaves, in the valleys and on the entire rear roof where the solar panels are proposed to be installed, c) synthetic underlayment on the roof surface, d) new drip edge (by the gutters), e) flashings on two roof gables, f) flashings on pipes sticking up the roof such as the bathroom vents, plumbing vents, Furnace chimney, Radon exhaust chimney, g) new ridge vent plus shingles over ridge vent. h) Owens Corning (OW) Duration Tru -Definition laminated shingles. StormMaster Restoration & Roofing use OW which is Engineered to deliver 130-MPH wind warranty performance, has a nailing strip with tough, woven engineered reinforcing fabric that would not tear down from wind. GAF may also have this with their newer release but with a higher price. OW's are affordable and readily available. 4) They covered our shrub plants with some Tarp to protect it from damage. 5) They did a good cleanup, scouring for nails with a magnetic tool. 6) I payed with my credit card thru Angi to facilitate payment and did not charge for extra fee. Other may charge 3.5% fee using credit card. 7) David Stewart also handled the roof inspection application and fee. I did not wait for my old roof to deteriorate further nor wait for the insurance adjuster. Putting a new roof will enhance the value of the house at the same time enjoying now the protection of the new Roof with confidence. Who knows the price of labor and materials may go up too in the future."

FAQs for heating cable for roof installation projects in Savoy, IL

A typical heat cable uses 5 watts per foot, regardless of the outside temperature. So, if your cable is 100 feet long, it uses 500 watts per hour. Expect to pay an additional $40 to $200 or more per month on your electricity bill. Be sure to turn manual cables off in the summer when you don't need them.

To install heat tape on your roof, place it along the lower edge in a precise zig-zag pattern to maximize coverage and heat distribution. Professional installers secure the tape with specialized clips that attach firmly to your shingles. This method ensures even heat distribution to effectively melt ice and snow while maintaining your roof's integrity during severe winter conditions.

Choosing between heated gutters and roof heating cables usually comes down to budget, appearance, and performance. Heated gutters cost less to install and blend seamlessly with your home’s exterior, making them a discreet, lower-cost option for preventing ice dams. Roof heating cables deliver more customizable and powerful heat along roof edges to handle heavy snow and ice, but they require more material and labor, increasing your upfront investment. Evaluate your roof design, winter weather demands, and energy budget to select the system that works best for your property.

Roof heating cables prevent ice dams by melting snow and stopping ice buildup at the roof edge. Ice damming occurs when melting snow refreezes on a cold roof—often right above the gutter line—and blocks water from draining, which can force moisture under shingles into your home. Heating cables maintain a warm channel that clears ice dams as soon as they form and protects your roof from water damage and structural issues.

Roof heating cables last between two and ten years before replacement is needed, wearing out faster than your roof itself. Their lifespan depends on climate severity, cable type, and exposure to physical damage. Consistent inspections and preventative maintenance—such as clearing debris, tightening clips, and checking electrical connections—can extend their service life and ensure reliable snow and ice protection each winter.

To safely remove snow from your roof, start with a specially designed roof rake, standing firmly on the ground and pulling snow downhill rather than climbing onto the roof. You can also apply calcium chloride ice melt to break up stubborn ice or gently use a secured rope from a safe vantage point.

Keep in mind that large snow slabs can weigh hundreds of pounds and pose a serious fall risk. If conditions are hazardous or you lack the right equipment, hire a professional to protect your safety and your roof’s integrity.
