Small jobs welcome

"Jake Plasse, business owner was hired to remove building materials, waste materials, and twenty plus years of accumulated junk from two double bay garages. I selected Pro Demolition LLC from Angie's List of local service providers. Jake reached out to within an hour and made an appointment to come and give me an estimate that very same week. He arrived promptly was professional as well as extremely pleasant and respectful. His quote was very reasonable I trusted his judgment. I hired him we set the date for cleanout in a very short time frame. The date of service arrived Jake arrived promptly at 7am. He worked diligently to remove everything we had planned on plus a few added items he gracious took. He had both garages cleared out within a tree hour time span, very impressive. I would certainly hire him again and highly recommend him for your upcoming waste removal jobs. He did a ton of work without overcharging us.Me and my husband were very impressed with the service he provided. "

"We have a very large property (19 acres of woods), and the area immediately surrounding our house was a mess due to some logging. We had a lot of brush, branches and dead wood that needed to be removed. Junk Kings came three times and got rid of the majority of it quickly and efficiently. The weather got too cold to completely finish so I’ll be hiring them again this spring (we had a lot!!). Two men came with a big truck and completely filled it each time. They worked non-stop all day, plus they were very nice and professional. The owner Todd is also very nice and accommodating. Highly recommend them!"

"They arrived on time and began by verifying that the load was as it was estimated. The crew of 4 went to work in two different parts of the house and began loading the heavy furniture first. To make things difficult it started to rain and snow as they moved the items out of the house. The crew now had to cover the furniture before it could be moved out the door. This was a difficult move and the crew worked hard to minimize soiling.  They moved the load to the new house by lunch time. They actually managed to get the household items in the correct rooms and listened to our directions as to placement. There was some very minor paint damage to a wall but nothing serious. I'm glade I'm not in the moving business. <br />"

"I called Levi on a Saturday because we were down to 1 toilet for 6 people. The downstairs toilet had suddenly started gurgling on Thursday night. Internet research said it was a clog, so I called Roto Rooter Friday morning. To their credit, they came out that afternoon, but did not locate the clog. After removing the toilet and digging up the septic, they told my sons that there was no clog, but the septic tank was full. So I called Levi Saturday morning, DURING the Electra snow storm. He arrived at our house in Trumansburg (from Newfield) in 90 minutes, dug up 2 additional spots, found the clog (yes, there was a clog), pumped the tank, and only charged us $200. <br /> <br />"

"Hilton Auto Transport operates like all the other companies. They are brokers that find truckers to move customer’s cars. The trucks are not their employees. The way this industry works is your broker posts the job on an online bulletin board for drivers to see. They take the job if it fits their schedule and meets their financial needs for the trip. The broker is paid their commission and the rest is paid to the trucker directly. Usually bank check or cash upon delivery. We wanted to move a car from the San Francisco area to WV. We had no takers for a week. This was not the fault of Hilton. Truckers seem to be afraid of WV. We changed the destination to a spot in VA that was only 20 minutes away and got an interested trucker the same day. In this industry, you are at the mercy of where drivers are headed. They try to make a load that will be delivered in a cluster for efficiency. You work directly with Nichole and she was good on the phone and tried very hard to find us a truck that would go to WV. We were not in a hurry and we had back and forth emails for a while before we signed up. Once we committed, she was great. Very up front about our particular situation and responded to phone calls. Their commission was reasonable, especially compared to many of the other brokers. The trucker we got turned out to be friendly and very efficient. The entire process was easy once we changed the destination to VA. All in all, we would use Hilton Auto Transport again."

FAQs for waste, junk, building materials and debris removal and hauling projects in Schoharie, NY

To throw out stained, broken, or infested mattresses or couches, call a junk hauler or take it to your local landfill yourself. If it’s infested with pests, you might want to call a pest control specialist near you. If you have infested furniture, there's a good chance you have an infested home, too.

Tipping furniture removal services is not mandatory, but it is a thoughtful way to acknowledge their hard work and professionalism. If you're pleased with the service, consider tipping junk haulers 5% to 10% of the total cost or $10 to $20 per worker. This is especially appreciated when the job involves heavy lifting, navigating stairs, or handling bulky items. Tipping not only rewards the workers for a job well done but also fosters a positive working relationship.

If your furniture is in good condition, you have a few options:

  • Donate to charities: Organizations like Goodwill, Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, and GreenDrop often accept furniture donations and may offer free pickup services.

  • List online: You can list your items for free on local online marketplaces or community groups to find someone who needs them. Giving away your furniture not only helps you clear space but also benefits others in your community.

The cost to haul away junk depends on the haul’s size. A single item costs $60 to $150 to haul, with each additional item adding $20 to $40 to the total price. Hauling away a full truckload of trash or other junk will run $400 to $800.

Yes, some furniture retailers will haul away your old furniture when they deliver your new items. This service may be included in your purchase price or offered at a discounted rate. It's important to check with the store to see if they provide furniture removal and whether there are any requirements, such as a minimum purchase. Utilizing this service can save you time and effort in disposing of your old furniture.

In many cases, you can dispose of furniture in a dumpster, but regulations vary by location. Some areas prohibit items like mattresses or upholstered furniture due to environmental concerns. It's best to check with your local waste management authorities or dumpster rental company to understand what's allowed.
