"In April 2026, our broken cast iron pipe needed to be replaced, but we didn’t know how extensive the repair would be. From Angi's referrals, we called Full Swing Plumbing who arranged for Nick, one of their plumbers, to come to our house that same afternoon. Full Swing waived the dispatch fee. Nick used his endoscope camera to see the extent of the problem. (They had a coupon on their site which offered this one-time, free service.) After a couple hours, they were able to identify the problem, present a few solutions, as well as a final estimate before they left that day. We agreed on the approach and set a date for the following week. Nick and his co-worker were friendly, deeply knowledgeable, and hard-working. They communicated well, taking photos for us throughout the process. They cleaned up everywhere, completed the job in one day, and they kept to their price. Everything worked well from the single visit."

"The oven in our Jenn Air stove failed to remain on to complete cooking. Web sites recommended replacing the oven "igniter." I did this myself and it didn't solve the problem. I called Al's Appliance Repair. Al came a day or so later, tested the oven, and decided the oven electronic control board needed replacement. He also decided to replace the oven burner pipe but that part turned out to be unobtainable. A few days later he returned with an assistant to replace the board. After replacing the board the oven returned to normal operation, which included an uneven flame on the burner pipe for which no replacement was available. (It may have been acting like that for years but the oven works and baking is as good as ever.) I have to add that replacing the control board was a very long story due to a VERY large number of screws holding the front panel in place. Over and over again when that panel "should" come off there turned out to be still more screws holding it in place! It must have kept Al with us for much too long with his other customers waiting. Oh, and that control board was costly!"

I met with Scott. Right off the back, I got a sense that he was honest because he went over all the details of the projects including possible trouble areas. The other contractors I spoke made it sound the project was a easy project and required a huge deposit prior to commencing any work. The kitchen was old and outdated and there were many problem areas including electrical work that needed to be fixed once walls were torn down. Without a deposit, he was available to answer all of my questions and he came over to the house multiple time to go over the plans. This was important to me, because other contractors in the past, just wanted to give u a quote and get a commitment and rush out the door. Once I hired them, they kept me up to date on the status of the kitchen remodel and gave me reasonable dates regarding completion of the project. The work is high quality at a reasonable price. I love the materials they chose for me and quality of material. I love the kitchen new look. It went from a small kitchen to an open space concept. Most importantly I feel that this kitchen is going to last for years because of the quality workmanship and the attention to details that was put into this project. They were very meticulous and it looks great!!! Definitely hire again.

FAQs for appliance (smaller size) installation and replacement projects in Scituate, MA

Garbage disposals last around 10 years when properly maintained. If your unit is getting close to that age or repair costs are increasing, it might be time to consider a replacement. Regular maintenance and careful use can help maximize your garbage disposal's performance and help it reach its maximum lifespan.

There are several signs to watch for that indicate your garbage disposal needs to be replaced. Replacement may be necessary if it doesn't work even though it's properly connected, the blades are worn and causing delays in operation, a persistent foul odor that won't go away, or leaks coming from the bottom due to a compromised seal. If you're experiencing any of these issues, it might be time to consider getting a new garbage disposal to keep your kitchen running smoothly.

A plumber or handyperson can install your garbage disposal if the electrical connections are already in place. If you need additional electrical work, you'll also need to hire a qualified electrician to handle the rest of the job. Hiring local professionals ensures the installation is safe and up to code.

It’s important to avoid putting certain items down the drain to keep your garbage disposal running smoothly and avoid clogs. Expandable foods like pasta, rice, oatmeal, and bread can swell and cause blockages. Coffee grounds, grease, fats, and oils can accumulate and create clogs. Hard items such as meat bones, nuts, and fruit pits can damage the disposal blades. Eggshells, potato peels, and fibrous vegetables such as celery, pumpkin, corn husks, artichokes, onion skins, and asparagus can wrap around the blades or obstruct the pipes.

Not every sink is suitable for the installation of a garbage disposal. The compatibility of the sink with the disposal depends on the material and structural integrity. While many standard sinks support these units, fireclay sinks are prone to cracking under the added stress and should not be used. Confirm that your sink can securely accommodate the disposal before installation.

Choosing the correct size garbage disposal depends on your household size and how much waste you produce. A 1/3–1/2 horsepower unit should be sufficient for households with one to two people. If your household consists of three to six people, a 1/2–3/4 horsepower unit is recommended. FA3/4–1 horsepower model will be necessary. For larger households of five to eight people
