I would use them again. <br /> Having said that, consider your goals carefully when you call them. <br /> They will clean your ducts. Period. If you are aware of any issues with either your supply or return ducts, you will find that Midlands will do only basic and trivial repair. Further work must be done by the homeowner or a heating/cooling contractor. <br /> I have a new high-effeciency furnace and air conditioner from Greens who, to their credit, said that the ducts in my older house needed more powerfull equipment than they posessed, and suggested I call Midlands or DuctMedic who have powerful, truck-mounted suction equipment. I called Midlands and Larry gave me an estimate of $750 and 6 hours of work. The techs showed up on-time and quickly proved to be competant, courteous and very experienced at their tasks. The supply side cleaning was relatively fast and nicely done. <br /> Problems arose cleaning the upstairs return ducts which were all plugged from a long-ago blown-in insulation job. Two of the four returns were cleaned reasonably quickly, one was permanently plugged from a prior remodel, and one was partially plugged from electrical boxes in the return chase. The techs' attempts at cleaning the partially clogged duct were limited to re-trying their normal procedures. Eventually they said that they were three hours late for their next appointment and that they were unlikely to be successful because of the blockage. They didn't have time to use their video inspection gear on anything. <br /> The techs returned two days later and video inspection of several places showed success, except for the blocked return. I then spent a full day with my shopvac and a homegrown video setup to unplug the return successfully. To his credit, Larry discounted his fee because the return was not unplugged by their efforts. I appreciate that. <br /> The point of this story is to say that competant duct cleaning will restore your ductwork to it's design capabilities. It will not make a 1922 house built before central air conditioning the model of modern ductwork efficiency. That must be accomplished by you or a heating & cooling contractor. <br />"

"During the call to schedule the cleaning, I specifically asked if the company cleaned the stoves as part of the service and was told that it was included. Unfortunately, I did not check the stoves until I was ready to use them (more than a month had passed) and found that the ashes and residue from cleaning had been vacuumed, but the stoves had not been cleaned to clear the creosote. (The company we had used in the past had always brushed the inside of the stoves to clear them of creosote and I just assumed that the way they did it was standard). Compared to the service we had in the past, DuctMedic was twice as high and did half the job. I believe the chimney cleaning part of the service was done professionally and efficiently. The person was very courteous, neat and cleaned up after himself. I realize now, that I should be more specific in my questions and should immediately check the work. DuctMedic needs to be more specific in describing everything that is (or isn't) included in the service fee."
