"<p>Apparently, and unbeknownst to us, a bird has been building a nest every year in our dryer vent duct. Roy explained that lint was backed up through the whole tube all the way to the dryer, even though the lint is removed inside the dryer by an appliance service company every year. We only realized it was a problem when suddenly it was taking way too long to get the clothes to dry.</p> <p>Roy removed the nest, cleaned the vent duct and put on a new bird-proof cover. He also pointed out that the rubber tubes leading from the washer and dryer to the wall and gas outlets need to be replaced every 5 years. He replaced our 14 year old tubes with metal mesh tubes that never need to be replaced.</p> <p>Then he kindly removed another bird's nest over our fireplace vent.</p> <p>Roy was very courteous, friendly and professional. Dryer Vent Wizards will send me a reminder every 18 months to let me know it is time for a dryer vent cleaning. Nice to not to have one more thing to try to remember. Dryer Vent Wizards were refreshingly professional from the initial phone call making an appointment to the finished job. Roy left the house clean and tidy. I will use them again and recommend them to all my friends.</p>"

"Before the installers began I had asked if they needed me to move some boxes that were under the area where the pipes from the air conditioner enter the house.  I was told, "no, it should be fine."  The initial installation went well, however I was a bit concerned when one of the installers connected the furnace output to the wrong pipe.  I am glad he checked it before leaving and fixed it right away.  Upon leaving the installers told me that the electrician would be by to shortly to finish off the electrical work.  This was at about 4:00 / 4:30 on a Friday night.  At 5:30 still no electrician so I called the owner on his cell phone.  I was informed that the electrician got stuck at a previous job longer than expected and that he would not be out that night.  As the furnace was working well it was not an emergency.  I was however, disappointed that there was no communication from the company that this was the case until I made the call.  An appointment was made at the time of my call for the electrician to be out "first thing" the next Friday morning at 8:30. <br /> The following morning I went downstairs to do a little clean up and discovered that not only were the boxes I had asked about moved but that there was debris from the pipe insulation inside the top box (it did not have a cover).  There was also debris all over the floor in that area.  I thought I had done my part to ask if I should move the boxes as was told that it wasn't necessary.  I understand that accidents happen however, it would have been nice to be told that that they made a mess and apologized for it. <br /> The next Friday 8:30 came and went without seeing or hearing from any representative of the company.  Finally at 9:15 I called the company to inquire about the electrician.  I was told that he was, " on the way" and, "should be there soon."  Finally at 9:50 he arrived without an apology or explanation as to why he was one hour and 20 minutes late.  While he was at my home I called the company once again to express my frustration with the lack of communication.  I also informed her that my biggest complaint with the company was not necessarily the quality of the work but the lack of communication overall from the installers, to the electrician, to the owners.  She apologized many times however, it wasn't until after I informed her that I would be making my concerns known on Angie's List that she offered a free cleaning / tune up of our equipment the following year.  I appreciated this gesture, however I would be hesitant to refer anyone to this company in the future.  I am concerned that if I need their assistance in the future that timeliness and communication will once again be an issue."

"Jim told us that it would most likely take 1 1/2 to 2 days to complete since we had so many ducts. The crew showed up on 7/26 with all their equipment and set up in the basement mechanical area. They worked from 9-3, then came back on Friday to finish up and install the new filter. Total process took 1 1/2 days. <br /> Our ducts had never been cleaned and the house was built in 2006--still had lots of original construction debris, plus we have done a kitchen remodel and had hardwood floors refinished, so there was lots of debris in the ducts. <br /> We felt Jim's price was very reasonable and we appreciated that he made the call to our home to discuss. <br /> Our overall experience with Jim's was great. Feel like he has a hardworking and honest group of folks working for him and that we were not getting "sold" on something. Will definitely use Jim's again for all of our heating/cooling/duct needs."

"The owner helped us with understanding this new ionizer technology and had to be contacted again about placing them in a better place in the HVAC system to increase ion output into the living space.  The ionizers are a bit pricey for such small units.  They help to kill germs in the home and remove new house construction VOCS, but we were disappointed that they did not remove all of the fumes. One email was not returned, but overall we had a good experience."

FAQs for air ducts & vents cleaning service projects in Sheboygan Falls, WI

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) states that air duct cleaning is not required unless visible issues such as mold buildup, rodent droppings, or excessive dust are present. When such conditions exist, cleaning becomes essential to protect indoor air quality and maintain HVAC efficiency. This approach minimizes potential health risks and extends the system’s life.

Air ducts must be cleaned every three to five years as required by NADCA to preserve system efficiency and indoor air quality. The EPA insists that cleaning is necessary only when significant issues such as mold, pest infestations, or heavy dust accumulation are evident. Annual inspections by a certified professional promptly address any emerging concerns.

The ideal seasons for air duct cleaning are spring and fall. Cleaning during these periods prepares your HVAC system for the demands of both winter heating and summer cooling. These seasons provide moderate weather conditions that enable efficient service completion while minimizing disruption, ensuring your system performs at its peak.

Professional air duct cleaning takes a fixed duration of two to five hours, depending on the home’s size and the complexity of the duct system. Smaller residences with standard ductwork complete the service in two hours, while larger homes with extensive ducts require up to five hours. Additional repairs may extend this duration.

To prepare for professional air duct cleaning, ensure all vents are unobstructed by moving nearby furniture and clearing pathways. Secure any pets in a safe area and confirm that your HVAC system units are easily accessible for technician inspection. Proper preparation contributes to a higher quality service outcome and prevents delays, allowing the cleaning process to proceed efficiently.
