"Dustin removed a very tall Madrona in a sensitive area with no damage to surrounding area. His crew was easy to work with and always accommodated our requests regarding handling of cut tree pieces and debris. Very happy with their work."

"Greg did a fantastic job for us. He ground up 4 tree stumps and even went above and beyond by grinding up a bed with huge blackberry nodules and ground cloth. We can now plant in this bed. He’s great to work with, pleasant and professional, prompt and a good communicator. I’d hire him again in a minute!"

"The tree we needed removed proved to be super stubborn, deep roots. The guys worked long and hard to dig her up, probably longer than they expected. They fills the hole and left a clean area."

"They used a blower to remove the stuff in the gutters. Much of it flew everywhere to include the roof, lawn, and concrete areas. That stuff that landed on the roof will probably wash back into the gutters at the frist rains. But what I'm really concerned about is possible damage done to the roof by the blower which was a very strong one. Won't know for sure until the rainy season starts. If I have my gutters cleaned again it won't be by blower."

"Overall customer service was great, from initial estimate to setting up the actual work appointment. Recommend ascertaining EXACTLY what size rocks you will be getting for your water feature during the estimate phase. The river rocks we received were all about the same medium size; I thought we had talked about rocks of varying sizes (such as the ones at our neighbor's home) from larger ones to medium rocks. I did not bring this point up when the workers showed up, as we wanted the project done and the overall water feature was not affected."

"My giant cherry tree fell over at 5pm and I called Brian for emergency tree removal. The next morning, he had a crew out to chop down and chip the tree. He then came out with the stump grinder and took care of the rest. It was all done by 1:00pm!! I cannot recommend Sound Stump more highly. I was in a situation where the rest of the tree could have fallen and done serious damage to property. Brian saved the day; the arborists were incredibly kind, conscientious, and helpful, which I especially appreciated in an emergency. This is an exemplary company. Thank you, Brian!"

FAQs for tree stump removal projects in Shelton, WA

Always transport chainsaws with the engine off and chain brake engaged. Use the protective bar cover provided by the rental company to prevent accidental contact with the cutting chain. Position the chainsaw securely in your vehicle to prevent movement during transit, ideally in a truck bed or trunk rather than the passenger compartment.

For gas models, ensure the fuel cap is tight and position the saw to minimize potential leakage. Keep the chainsaw away from passengers and other items that could be damaged.

Proper safety equipment is essential when operating any chainsaw. At minimum, you should have eye protection (safety glasses or a face shield), hearing protection (earplugs or earmuffs), cut-resistant gloves, chainsaw chaps or pants, and sturdy boots with good traction.

Many rental facilities offer basic safety kits alongside chainsaw rentals. If you'll be using chainsaws regularly, investing in quality personal safety gear is advisable. Never operate a chainsaw without appropriate protective equipment, regardless of the job size.

While rental companies will rent chainsaws to beginners, inexperience significantly increases safety risks. If you've never used a chainsaw before, request a demonstration from the rental staff and thoroughly review the operator's manual before starting. Begin with smaller, more manageable cutting tasks to build comfort with the tool's operation.

For significant cutting jobs, consider either taking a chainsaw safety course first or hiring professionals instead. The learning curve for safe chainsaw operation is steep, and caution is paramount.

If mechanical problems develop during your rental, immediately cease operation and contact the rental company. Most reputable rental businesses will either provide a replacement chainsaw or repair the equipment if the breakdown resulted from normal use rather than misuse. Document the issue with photographs when possible and maintain records of when you reported the problem.

Having your rental agreement readily available when you call will expedite the resolution process. The rental company should adjust your rental period to account for any downtime.
