"The iron swing gate for our driveway, which is on an electric system, was not opening and closing all the way, so they came out to service it for $125, which just consisted of a lube and a reset.  Sure enough, a couple months later it was still sticking so I called them again.  They came out again for another $125 service charge and weren't able to fix it.  So $250 down so far without any resolution.  They quoted me $2,178 for a whole new system, which I wasn't ready to spend at the moment.
Instead, I called another company who came out, replaces the batteries, adjusted the limit switch, threw in a new remote, all for $295.  It's working fine 10 months later, so I'm glad I didn't shell out the $2100+ (and wish I had called the other company first).
