Everything turned out better than we ever imagined.  We had to wait a bit on him because it is just he and his wife and they do almost everything themselves.  But if you want a dream home or a remodeled dream home,  he is worth the wait.  I have friends who have used other contractors and were not at all happy with the results.  John and Kim are knowledgeable about every stage of construction and codes.  John was a builder for many years in the Kansas City area and Kim is not only a realtor but a great help with decorating ideas.  The mixture is great because he knows the building side and she knows what is appropriate upgrades for your home without going over board for your area.  They are the dynamic duo!!! <br />"

"After receiving several bids, I felt that Gold Seal Painting had the most professional approach.  They provided an estimate, we discussed the details and agreed upon a start date.  I chose the house color while waiting for the start date.  They started and continued working every day that weather permitted.   You must be somewhat flexible with outdoor painting because weather delays are outside the control of all parties.  They realized that some of the wood had rotted.  They priced the wood panels and let me know the cost.  We discussed options of using in stock (cheaper, different size and thinner) or special order the same wood that was on the house.  Though it was more expensive, and I did have a tight budget, I opted to go with the special order.  My logic was that they would have to put more effort in fitting and piecing the in stock wood panels which would eat up the cost savings of the cheaper panels.  And I thought it would compromise the appearance.  They had carpenters available that could do the work.  Though I had the option of hiring someone else, it was easier to go with their staff.  They did a great job and replaced several wood panels.  They also primed and painted the pergola.    <br /> I felt that the communication line was very open and available.  When I had questions about the paint vs stain, they discussed it with me until I felt comfortable making the decision.  I felt they partnered with me to complete the job. <br />"

"I was very satisfied with the job overall and plan to use this contractor for any needed future jobs.  James showed up exactly on time for the estimate and then on time again when it was time to bring the crew for days on the job.  The crew are employees not day labor and obviously had worked together awhile.  James made sure everything was ordered and specified as I wanted--shingle type and color, etc.-- and advised on any repairs indicated that didn't show up on initial inspection (this was repair/replace after weather damage).  The crew repaired a couple of minor items without additional charge from original quote.  James makes a point to use highest quality components and does not cut corners; obvious pride of workmanship; he backs the job a full five years for anything even if not related to workmanship so that speaks to the confidence he has in his work.   I'd have to think really hard to nitpick anything; there were a few roofing nails about the place and in the drive after they pulled off the job but that's to be expected...maybe running a magnet over the area would be helpful?  <br /> This was a replacement roof after weather damage and James worked with me and was flexible depending on how the insurance company was going to treat me on this job/whether I was going to file a claim or not.  I will need new siding soon and I will be calling this company to bid on that job too. <br />"
