"I was very pleased with the entire process of having my roof replaced. AJB work worked with us to choose the right shingles, even giving us a list of house to see what the different shingles look like on a roof. Installation went very smoothly, and they did a great job of cleaning up after the installation. They came out promptly after the roof was completed to address a couple minor issues."

"From the first call back to the final walk through the folks at On Tops Roofing were professional and easy to work with. We had checked other roofers and had good impressions of them but decided on On Tops Roofing for multiple reasons including price and how quickly they were able to start the work. We asked for some items that weren't in the original quote and they agreed to all of our requests with no reluctance at all. The project manager was very responsive and easy to work with. The only issue I had was some wood siding was damaged when they had to pull it from the house to install step flashing. The siding was old and needed to be replaced anyway so the damage just prompted us to move that project up on our priority list. All in all, we're very happy with the work that was done and would recommend them to anyone who needs roofing work performed."

"It has gone very smoothly, I worked with Alfred Pickett, (205) 837-1011, who quoted the job, scheduled the job with one of Authentic Restoration's roofing crews. It is Alfred who stood fast that our roof was damaged and likely that our insurance adjuster would approve coverage payments. This occurred on an incredible day when I coincidentally paid a home inspector to inspect a small area on my roof that another "sub" of mine had patched. Alfred was standing nearby and we didn't say a word that Alfred was a roofer. I asked the Home Inspector to check our roof while he was up there - and he came down and told me the roof was not damaged by hail! When the inspector left, Alfred showed me on his "Tablet" the picture he took of our roof and there were many pale charcoal-colored spots in the picture. This was the hail damage we suspected that occurred in April 2017. Our terrific Cincinnati Insurance Co. paid all of our $40,638 roofing/new gutters bill except a $2,500 deductible that we happily paid. Authentic Restoration performed a great job on our home's roof and (don't forget) gutters. I am so big on Restoration that we got my youngest Stepson's home re-roofed due to hail damage also, and happily this home was covered by Cincinnati Insurance also (hail damage). In addition, I've led, so far, two of my neighbors who own luxury homes with hail-damaged roofs to Alfred and they are getting new replacement roofs covered by insurance. Alfred has also made things easy in doing our two jobs and I am very fortunate that we crossed paths because he has saved my wife and I some serious money and made it easy!!"

"They were very good. Before he even gave me a quote he gave me a full detailed report of what he had found on my roof and that was really good.

The pricing was excellent. The presentation of the job was very thorough. I appreciate that I wasn't pushed to do something I wasn't comfortable with. He was very very professional, completely. I am selling my house and buying a new one and they first thing I am doing is having him come and look at the roof."

"A neighbor was having a new roof installed by The Remodeling Company, and our lawn was slightly damaged in the process. When I went to talk to Pauleta Price about it, she was incredibly impressive. She had the entire issue resolved within an hour. Not only is Pauleta hard-working, with a get-it-done attitude, she is incredibly friendly and made what could have been a difficult situation a pleasure. If I ever need remodeling work done, Pauleta Price at The Remodeling Company will be my first call!"

"My wife and I could not be more satisfied that we decided to have Legacy Construction & Roofing replace our wind damaged roof. The Project Coodinator, Jon Kitchen, and the entire team did an outstanding job. About the time I noticed some missing shingles on our roof, my wife saw Jon Kitchen when she was walking in the adjacent neighborhood. She told him about the missing shingles and he offered to stop by and replace them at no charge. While up on our roof he noticed additional damaged shingles and recommended we have the entire roof replaced. After contacting our insurance agent, who arranged for an adjuster to perform a roof inspection, Jon re-arranged his schedule so he could be up on the roof with him to ensure the adjuster noticed all of the damage. The adjuster found over 50 wind damaged shingles, so the insurance company approved having the roof replaced. We could not be more pleased that Jon was handling our project. Because of him everything happened like clockwork and came off without a problems. He was present during most of the replacement process to make sure everything is being done correctly. Jon is extremely courteous, honest, knowledgeable and works hard to make sure his customers are 100% satisfied. We are always able to get in touch with him at anytime and if busy he promptly follows up and returned all calls and texts. He basically took care of everything, all we had to do was pick out the color of shingles we wanted. Prior to removing the old roof the roofing crew took the time to safely cover all of our landscaping, deck and A/C units to protect them from damage. They checked the roof structure for damage, replacing 2 sections of water damaged sheathing and re-nailed all loose pieces. They spent 2 full days working from sunrise to after sunset to get the job done. Upon completion the crew walked around the entire perimeter of the house picking up all of the loose debris and nails. The day after completion Quality Assurance Manager, Chris Castillo, was up of the roof and walked around the house to make sure everything was installed correctly and the site was properly cleaned up. Later that afternoon, the crew foreman Ralph (I do not know his last name) walked around the permitter of the house with a magnetic pickup tool to ensure all of the loose nails were picked up. There are not enough stars to rate Jon Kitchen and the rest of the Legacy team on the job they performed. As many of you know, finding a good company that can be trusted to do a quality job is not easy, so that is why we highly recommend Jon Kitchen and Legacy Construction & Roofing in Cary for your roofing and construction needs."

"The folks at The Aluminum Company never fail to please! They replaced our exterior with vinyl siding about 8 or 9 years ago along with rebuilding both of our porches. We also hired them to replace our gutters and roof in 2017. The wood doesn’t hold up like it used to. Dallas suggested we replace our porches with Trex and vinyl posts. We are very pleased with the results! Beautiful work!!"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Smithfield, NC

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
