"We needed to clean out my dad's house after his passing, which was very emotional. Eric and his crew did an absolutely fantastic job. They were on time, the pricing was very competitive and the work impeccable. They were professional and most importantly kind. Not only did they remove everything we asked, they vacuumed and swept, leaving the property in showable condition. They made a very difficult situation a lot less stressful."

"Cesar was great! I had a last minute project after another sub fell through, and he was able to come to get the job done quickly and at a fair price. I’ll be using Cesar and his guy for all my demo jobs from now on."

"I am extremely satisfied with the quality of the work they performed on my property, taking initiative to replace a door that was rotted which was not included in the quote. I look forward to hiring them again to build a two car garage."

"Total Asset Solutions did a fantastic job with the removal of old tile in my bathroom and installation of the new tile. Their communication was great during the entire process. During both the tile removal and install process, the crews left the room spotless. Everyone that worked on the project was very polite and professional. I would highly recommend!"

"I have 18.5 acres of undeveloped land in New Hampshire that had been "select cut" for timber years ago. It was left with stumps and debris mixed in amongst ledge and a lot of sloped ground. Jon from Spike Inc was able to clear a homesite from this mess, and plan for an ICF home to be built in this rugged terrain. Along the way Spike Inc has helped me to overcome many obstacles while completing the following: -trenching 680+ feet of underground electrical line and installing the pipe to hold it, and building the pedestal and transformer required by the electric company -trenching and installing a water line to the foundation site from a well -build a new driveway to the homesite again battling ledge and sloped ground -rough out the septic area and plan for install -oversee the planning and building of an ICF structure(footing in place) The Spike Inc crew has worked on the property at different points during this year and overcome one of the rainiest summers in New Hampshire history. Jon and the Spike crew were flexible and accommodating so that I could be present during almost all of the work. It has been awesome to be a part of the whole process. I look forward to continued success working with Spike Inc on the construction phase of my Mountain retreat."

FAQs for demolition projects in Smithfield, RI

A complete chimney demolition takes close to five days with a two-person crew; removing only the stack can be completed in half a day. Pros take the structure down brick by brick, add temporary supports if needed, and haul away debris before they leave. Their step-by-step approach safeguards nearby walls and the roof while keeping dust and hazards in check.

Most municipalities require a permit before any part of the chimney comes down. Check with your local building department for the exact fees and paperwork, and confirm any HOA rules that may be applicable. Your structural engineer or chimney professional can obtain the permit on your behalf and ensure that every step complies with local safety and zoning codes.

You can close up your chimney instead of demolishing it. This process involves sealing the damper, installing a chimney cap, and closing the fireplace opening with a secure barrier such as bricks or a door. Closing the chimney maintains the structure while preventing airflow, moisture, and debris entry. This method reduces demolition costs and complies with building code requirements when complete removal is not necessary.

Removing a chimney and switching to modern, eco-friendly alternatives enhances your property’s appeal through increased energy efficiency and potential LEED certification. However, many buyers insist on an operational fireplace, and as a result, removal can reduce overall home value by $5,000. Homeowners should assess market expectations and consult experts to ensure that any changes align with their long-term property goals.

It’s crucial to determine if your chimney is load-bearing before starting removal. Modern homes feature chimneys that are independent of the building’s structure, whereas older homes rely on chimneys for support of critical systems. Review your blueprints or consult a qualified structural engineer to confirm if additional support is necessary. This step ensures safe removal and sound planning.
