Customers say: Quick response

"I have to say that in this day and age, when so many service providers either don't call back after you leave a message, or they don't follow through on appointments (even here on Angi), it was a PLEASURE to deal with Cs Water Works. From start to finish he was completely conscientious about doing the job thoroughly. Not only would I definitely use him again, I would recommend him to anyone needing service. I chose him because I saw he had a 5 star rating and I am happy to see to it that I also add my 5 star review. He deserves it!"

"Billy from Elite Piping Solutions was a pleasure to work with. He is pleasant to speak to, thoroughly professional, explains things completely, and addressed additional items that would have become problems down the road. He brought on other professionals as needed without putting the burden for that on us. We expected the new heating appliances to serve us efficiently for many years to come!"

"In 2010, we changed our beat-up deck to a new patio and used Napolitano Brothers for the upgrade. The patio came out better than expected and completed within 1 1/2 weeks (despite several days of rain storms). In 2016, we decided to expand our patio to include a bar/cooking area for grilling and a fire-pit to enjoy the cooler days. Without a doubt, we returned to Napolitano Brothers and they did a fabulous job. The work was seemless (as if we had the work done in 2010) and completed within about a week's time. Both jobs worked out perfectly and my wife and I highly recommend Napolitano Brothers. They have decades of experience and don't overbook jobs so they complete timely and with precision."

"When I got into the tub for a shower Sunday afternoon, the drain was clogged. My plumber's helper didn't clear it. Called Bob at Herber; he said he'd call with an appointment Monday morning. Water went down some overnight, but was still sitting in the bottom of the tub. True to his word, Monday morning Bob called; he'd have someone here before 9. Mike arrived around 8:30. He couldn't snake it out from the tub as there are mechanical parts that open and close the drain in the way. Went down to the basement, disconnected the trap and elbow there; determined the clog was in the old (from 1953) galvanized drain pipe. When he snaked that out, the clog was at the T-junction with the vent pipe to the roof just where he suspected. I'd never had that snaked out, but that tub drain had always been slow; maybe that had accumulated from the original owners. Part of the threaded end of the old galvanized pipe cracked off (rusted) so Mike had to fabricate and replace the trap, elbow and connections to the tub drain. Once he was satisfied, he asked me to let the water run in the tub to make sure there were no leaks. Initial test was good, so "let it run for a full minute". Did that and still good. Have to say that tub drain is vastly different now. Previously if you turned on the tap full-force, the tub would fill up even when the drain was "open". Now it gurgles away happily and water does not accumulate. Glad I had that done."

"Excellent crew. One crew came for an estimate and was able to get another crew in a little later to install. All the crew that handled the installation were professional, knowledgeable, amicable and capable. I did not shop around, so I cannot say whether the price was competitive, but I am very happy with the whole experience, including customer service reps."

FAQs for sump pump or interior foundation drains installation projects in Smithtown, NY

Most residential pumps draw approximately 1,300 to 2,900 watts when they first start, then settle at roughly 800 to 1,050 watts during normal operation. The exact number depends on the motor’s horsepower and how often the float switch tells the pump to run. Even at the high end, the electricity cost is minor compared with the expense of cleaning up a flooded basement.

Grab a ruler and an empty 18‑inch‑wide pit. During a steady rain, time how much the water rises in one minute. Multiply that depth (in inches) by 60 to calculate gallons per hour, then add 50% for safety. If the result tops 2,100 gallons per hour—about 35 gallons a minute—you’ll need a 3/4‑horsepower unit. Anything lower, and a 1/3- or 1/2-horsepower pump should do the trick.

Loud rattling, constant cycling, or shuddering vibrations are the pump’s way of telling you it’s on its last legs. Musty smells, higher electric bills, and visible rust are other red flags. If the unit is 10 years old or older and exhibits any of these symptoms, replace it before the next heavy rain turns your basement into a wading pool.

You don’t have to hire a licensed plumber, but you should still bring in someone who installs sump pumps for a living—whether that’s a plumber, basement‑waterproofing specialist, or experienced handyman. They know the local codes, can wire the pump safely, and will test the system before they leave. Skipping professional help might void the warranty and could leave you with a pump that fails when you need it most.

Not every basement needs a pump, but if your home sits in a floodplain, has a high water table, or has ever taken on water during a storm, a sump pump is inexpensive insurance. For basements that only struggle with condensation or the occasional damp spot, sealing cracks and improving drainage may be all that is needed.
