"Joe gave a reasonable quote based on pictures of where I needed to have tiles replaced.. He was easy to schedule with and contacted me a day before to confirm. The work was well done and looks so good I cannot tell the repairs from original! I would hire Tile & Grout Solutions again and recommend to anyone. "

"I’m so glad I decided to call in a pro for my flooring project—Emilio from E&E Floors was everything I wanted and more! When I sent him photos of the damage, he immediately responded with the cost to repair and provided clear details on how he would handle the job. I didn’t know at the time that he was only 20 years old until he showed up at my door, but despite his age, Emilio worked like a true expert, getting the job done right and efficiently without cutting any corners. Best of all, he charged me exactly what he quoted—no surprises. The quality of the work really exceeded my expectations. Customer service was fantastic—friendly, approachable, and professional throughout the entire process. Overall, I highly recommend Emilio from E&E Floors if you want great workmanship, clear communication, and excellent customer care."

"We recently had new wood floors installed in our home, and the entire process was smooth and stress-free. The team was punctual, professional, and paid close attention to detail from start to finish. They helped us choose the right type of wood, completed the installation on schedule, and the craftsmanship is excellent. The floors look beautiful and completely transformed the space. We?re very happy with the results and would definitely recommend them to others."

"Joe Maxwell from Tile & Grout Solutions was definitely the solution to my problem. My sweet landlady removed the stick-on laminate flooring from the bathroom floor, revealing a beautiful ceramic tile underneath. She used Goo Gone, a scraper, and some kind of other cleaner to remove the adhesive. Oh Lordy, what a mess. There was not only sticky residue from the adhesive, but also oily residue from the Goo Gone! I tried, but couldn't get it off. Enter Joe and Tile & Grout Solutions! He applied a commercial-grade, professional stripper product first, followed by a cleaner on the ceramic tile. He mopped it and blew it dry, and it is now clean, fresh, and really gorgeous. PLUS, his price was reasonable for the work he did. I recommend Joe and Tile & Grout Solutions. He may be the solution to YOUR problems, too."

FAQs for tile: ceramic and porcelain repair projects in Smithville, TX

People use the terms refinishing, resurfacing, and reglazing interchangeably. Refinishing is a process that repairs old tiles and gives them a fresh new coat of finish. This is also called tile resurfacing or reglazing.

Yes, you can refinish tiles as a DIY project, but it’s important to follow all the steps involved. These include the following:

  1. Clean the tiles or hire a local tile cleaning service to remove all the residue (soap film, oil, grease, and dirt).

  2. Etch the tile to ensure the refinishing solution adheres properly.

  3. Fill in any cracks or chips in the tile.

  4. Recoat the grout.

  5. Repair any missing or damaged caulking where applicable.

  6. Apply the refinishing product, primer, and enamel.

Your newly reglazed tile should last between 10 and 15 years with proper installation. However, higher-traffic areas and moisture may result in a reduced life span. Explore the cost of different tile types to determine which material works best for your home and needs.

Your bathtub and tile refinishing cost will likely seem like a small price to pay for the transformation it offers. Provided your tile and grout are both intact, refinishing will bring a brand-new style at a fraction of the cost.

Yes, most ceramic tile is paintable with specific epoxy or tile paints. However, you’ll want to avoid areas of heavy use or moisture, such as countertops, showers, and bathtubs. Paint can crack, bubble, or wear away over time, especially on floors.
