Cleaning Methods Rotary Shampoo The carpet is cleaned by a rotary machine using a soft brush and a specially formulated neutral detergent. The brushing action is just enough to break the bond between soil and the carpet fiber, but gentle enough that it is less abrasive than a normal upright vacuum. The detergent used is made by Selig Chemical and contains a soil retardant to help keep your carpet looking cleaner longer. Shampoo cleaning became part of our service when synthetic detergents with built in soil retardant's were developed in the late 1940's, Beckett’s used this type of cleaning as a standard until the Mid 1970’s. Major drawback - soap acts like a magnet to dirt, and this technique leaves high deposits of soap in the carpeting which results in carpet appearing to be dirty faster than it should. Hot Water Extraction (Steam) A solution of water and detergent is injected into the carpet under pressure. It is then immediately extracted together with soil and spots which have been loosened and suspended. This method which has been used in some rug cleaning plants over the years was adapted to be used on location in the 1970's. Beckett’s was among the first cleaners in the Atlanta area to offer this new process in the mid 1970's. Dry The basis of this system is a dry compound which contains a blend of solvents. This compound is applied to the carpet and then brushed in with equipment designed to disperse it evenly and work it deep into the carpet pile. The compound absorbs soil and stains as it dries. Thorough vacuuming when dry removes the dry compound together with the dissolved soil and spots. Other Methods A number of other methods are also available such as bonnet cleaning (absorbent pad) and dry foam. Our experience with them also dates back generations. These methods are generally faster and less costly but also less effective than the methods listed above. Beckett’s offers every major cleaning method. This process helps avoid possible surprises when material is selected from small samples that then do not match the installed material. No appointment is necessary and we are open Monday through Saturday, or you can also visit our website for a live view of inventory (updated hourly). Visit Stone Connection alone or with your designer or fabricator to get ideas and select the natural stone slab that you want for your countertop, island, vanity, table top or other stone project. 2. Stone Connection will hold your slab and will contact your fabricator on your behalf to advise them of all of the details of the slab that you have chosen. 3. Your fabricator will then contact you to finalize any remaining details and, with your final approval of the project, will instruct Stone Connection to deliver the slab to them. 4.
