"It went very well. After a bit of a wait, I received a very comprehensive report of 88 specific items as well as bacteria, fungi and particles. Each Item detected over the EPA drinking water limits had an explanation sheet. Also provided was a contact person at the company to address any questions you had about the report findings. I thought the service was well worth the $300 just for the peace of mind. I intend to use the company on an annual basis going forward."

"I can't say enough good things about Joe and Jewett Plumbing. We had made multiple calls to other plumbers, none of which were ever returned. Joe returned our call, came out to assess the situation, was visibly angry (on our behalf) at the shoddy work that had been previously done, made a plan to fix everything and then followed through. He was communicative, smart, professional, and did a great job. (He's also funny, which is always a plus!) After completing the job at a reasonable price, one of his team made an extra trip to help my daughters open the camp in the spring and show them how to get the water running. I am completely happy with the work that was done and I would recommend Jewett Plumbing to everyone. Thank you!"

"When I first met with Lenny from Applewood Construction, I knew he was the right contractor for us. I initially gave him an idea of what I wanted to do with the kitchen and he took that and came up with an awesome design inserting a few of his own ideas. In order to do any more design work I did pay him a retainer fee of $500 which was to be included in the price if I decided to go with him. That was fine with me because everyone should be paid for their time spent and I had already decided this would be my contractor. We played around with the design adding or moving a few things here and there and eventually he came up with a quote and final design. We went over the quote and final design in great detail at which time I decided to sign a contract with Applewood. We then agreed on a work start date that was a month from the contract signing. I was given a payment schedule and work schedule before the start of work. They did all the work as scheduled and finished on time. I am very happy that I did chose to go with Lenny and his crew and I'll explain why.... <br /> From start to finish I was always able to get in contact with Lisa (Lenny's wife) who handled all e-mail correspondence (amongst many other things). She answered any questions or concerns that I had and if unable to do so would get answers from Lenny to me, usually by the next day. Communication overall was very good and I never felt like I wasn't a priority despite how busy this company is with other jobs and the new show room they are opening.  <br /> The crew was very clean and accommodating.  Anybody will tell you that when you get your kitchen renovated you lose the hub of your house and it is pretty inconvenient. Aside from the inconveniences that I expected I was very pleased to have a fridge the entire time and the kitchen was always left clean at the end of the day, even when it was being gutted! I was always kept informed of what days they were going be there and what they would be doing that day. I felt very comfortable letting Lenny and his crew work in my house when I was at work during the day. They always locked up the door at the end of the day and left the keys in a lockbox on the rear door knob. <br /> As far as any issues or concerns I had (which there were and will be with any job) Lenny was very prompt at taking care of them, and flexible enough to come up with solutions. He went out of his way to make sure that I was happy with the job right up to the very end. <br /> I will say that the job cost more than I thought I was going to spend on a kitchen remodel, but to be fair I do have to factor in the high end cabinets and other material I chose and the fact that it really wasn't just the kitchen that was remodeled. We ended up remodeling the bathroom, and did some exterior work and the electrical panel as well. As far as the price break down goes, I will mention that the price I paid to the contractor directly was roughly $62000. The rest of the money was spent on the material that I was required by the contractor to purchase: including all appliances, cooktop hood, cabinet/door/bathroom hardware, tile, grout, sinks, toilet, faucets, and light fixtures. <br /> In summary, I will be very likely to hire Lenny and his crew again for any future jobs that I don't tackle myself, including the garage addition that I'm planning on. I would highly recommend Applewood Construction to anyone considering a kitchen renovation or any other home project.  I can't wait to give my family a tour of the new kitchen on Christmas Eve! <br />"

"Don is a very nice man. Easy to work with, thoughtful of your needs, carefully planning each step, communicating well so that choices are made with the owner and surprises are avoided. His work is impeccable, and the quality is excellent. He keeps the job site as clean and neat as possible. I've had other builders work faster, but I wouldn't ever have them back in my house. His price was very reasonable for the extensive, custom work done."

"The installation went well, overall. Spectrum's personnel were knowledgeable, courteous, honest and helpful. They assessed both of the two tanks I had originally asked to have replaced and let me know that only one actually needed to be replaced at the time. I appreciated their candor and the explanation and demonstration they gave me to support their estimate that the second apartment's tank would last at least another 5 - 10 years. They advised me in advance that they might need to temporarily remove the stair treads from the two bottom basement stairs in order to manipulate the tanks as they moved the new one in and the old one out. They explained multiple options for transferring fuel between the old and new tanks together with the attendant risks and costs / savings. We decided to schedule the installation once my tenants old tank was almost empty to speed and simplify the process. I was completely satisfied with how they cleaned the installation area and replaced the stair treads at the end of the project. Only one concern arose during the project when the installation had to be delayed for several days because a funeral and another unplanned event came up for one of Spectrum's principals. Except for this delay and the resulting concern about my tenants running out of fuel, the installation went very smoothly and I am quite pleased with the result. <br />"

"We had a good experience with this contractor. He did what he said he would do and didn't charge us any more money when he hit a snag. One big snag was he found a spring underground where the septic field was going so he had to build it above ground level or mounded. This was an extra cost of 5-6 thousand dollars that he did not charge us for. All the work was performed well and on time. In some cases we needed to have him show up on last minute notice and he did. He also has close relationships with very key people in the community that made dealing with many of the tasks associated with building a house easier. He also is a builder and gave us many free tips and advise during the project as well as taking an interest in the project visiting the site once in a while to see how things were going."

"Keith at High Tech Home warranties coordinated a repair where a service professional evaluated and fixed an AC unit with a matter of hours. Hugely important in Florida. All the more impressive considering that AC guys must be in high demand with the heat. I was very impressed overall. <br />"

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in South-newfane, VT

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
