Unfortunately, the week before, Angie's List hooked us up with an Admiral Moving Van franchise supposedly from New Haven, and they were an absolute nightmare. Their estimator came out, gave a good quote, and we signed the contract. On moving day, a group of guys from Brooklyn showed up with 2 generic Avis box trucks (totally inadequate for moving an entire household), no uniforms, and came into the house and told us the move would be twice the price as the estimate and take 2 days. When we called the estimator back he wouldn't return the call. We spoke to their boss in NJ (phone call), and he actually cursed at my husband, threatened to pull his group out, and hung up on him. We worked out an agreement for the day. The movers left a large hole in our wall, taped our furniture which ruined the finish on some pieces, and when we paid with a bank check after the first truck was unloaded, they got angry that we wouldn't give them cash (can you say "avoiding paying their Connecticut taxes- they were based in NJ) and just dumped all the rest of our stuff in the garage and left. We will probably be reporting them to the state regulatory agencies. Again- make sure you get the South Windsor group- they were amazing. I would hire them again in a heartbeat."
