"I had a leaky tub faucet that I needed fixed. The plumber came out and said the entire setup needed to be replaced including busting out tile wall. Quoted me for 2 options, one was $1300 and the other was over $550. I told him I just want the leaking water to stop and I’m not interested in replacing the entire setup. He said it was impossible to fix the leak without the full replacement, costing either 550 or 1300. Turns out, 30 bucks and a run to Home Depot later and I fixed it myself. I understand him giving me all the options of replacing everything, but when I specifically asked for just a quick fix of the leak he was very adamant about it being impossible, and tried very hard to convince me to take the $1300 option. This is definitely a sales oriented company that tries to upsell, not your local reliable plumber that we all try to find and trust."

"While I was on a trip to the East Coast in 2012 the Big Deal offered by Shea Electric was a complete replacement of a main electric panel including breakers and included a whole house surge protector. Before purchasing I called Mr. Shea and advised we would not be ready for this work for at least a year. He said no problem and to let him know when we were ready. I called in 2013 to request that he or an associate visit the site to review the project and advise the additional cost to upgrade the capacity (amperage) of the panel to accommodate the addition of air conditioning. As associate did come to the site and made some notes for Mr. Shea's consideration. I waited awhile then called Mr. Shea who advised his associate was no longer with him and the would come out to the site himself which he did. He demonstrated a most consultative attitude and we looked forward to his doing the work. With assurance the work would be done by Mr. Shea we contracted for a solar installation which required the upgraded panel. Mr. Shea unfortunately ran into a major complication on a major job in May and withdrew completely from undertaking our work. After many attempts to re establish communication with Mr. Shea we had to find another means of getting the work done before the start of the solar installation which had been delayed for a considerable amount of time while we tried to wait for Mr. Shea to respond that he could now do the work. We empathize with Mr. Shea's unfortunate experience on his major project and don't wish to give a negative review of him or his firm considering his initial willingness to honor our request to defer starting the work until we were able to coordinate the solar installation. We would be happy to provide Angie's List with Mr. Shea's final communication with us on May 1,2014 indicating his need to withdraw from doing the work for us as we both had anticipated. Based on this unfortunate situation we respectfully request a full refund which will partially compensate the added expenses we were required to undertake in order to have an upgraded electrical service installed."
