"JR did an excellent siding job on our home in Vermont. His crew was prompt, courteous, and very conscientious. They left our yard clean at the end of every workday. They were meticulous in their workmanship, and even went beyond our expectations. At the end of the job they went over every detail to be sure we were satisfied. We highly recommend them."

"From the day I first inquired about replacing the roof on my house until the day the job was completed all contact was prompt, professional, informative, and courteous. The crew that replaced our roof was very efficient, friendly, and worked extremely well as a team to get the job done. Our roof was replaced in less than 48 hours and the grounds were left clean and free of debris. I was hesitant at first to hire a team off the internet, but the professionalism displayed during all stages of the job was enough to convince me that this company is deserving of the glowing reviews it receives. "Overall it went pretty well.  They stared early and stayed late to make up time lost for rain.  They were very concientious about picking up every day.  John and his entire crew were very friendly and respectful.

At first I wasn't very pleased with the number of visible seams in the flashing on the roof facing the driveway.  The roof is very "wavy" due to the settling of our ancient house and apparently the seams were unavoidable.  Everything has settled more and it is fine.  What is most important is that John talked to us about it and wanted to do anything he could to make sure we were happy with the job.

We would hire him again for work.  He seems to love what he does and he wants to make sure his customers are happy and it shows."

FAQs for wood shake or composite roofing installation and replacement projects in Springfield, VT

Cedar shakes and wood shingles might seem similar, but they have some important differences. Cedar shakes are hand-split, giving them a unique, textured appearance that adds rustic charm to your roof. They're great for homeowners who want a distinctive look. Wood shingles, conversely, are machine-made, providing a smooth, uniform appearance for a more modern look. Shakes tend to be more expensive due to the craftsmanship involved but offer exceptional beauty and resilience.

A well-maintained cedar shake roof can last up to 60 years. However, factors like severe weather and improper ventilation can reduce its lifespan. You should consider replacing your roof if you notice persistent leaks, visible water damage, curling or splitting shakes, moss growth, rot, or missing shakes. Regular inspections can help you determine when it's time for a replacement.

When hiring a roofing contractor for your cedar shake roof, asking the right questions is important. Make sure they are fully certified and have extensive experience with cedar installations. Verify that their team is licensed, bonded, and insured. Ask for details about the materials they use, such as the type of underlayment and fasteners, and how they ensure proper ventilation. Getting multiple written estimates can help you compare options and choose a contractor who offers quality workmanship at a fair price.
