"Just finished a total renovation of my 3 story 100+ year old brownstone in Park Slope, Brooklyn. I found Home Improvement by Joseph on Angies List. After reading his reviews and talking to neighbors and family who recently had similar work done in the last few years, about their experiences with the contractors they used, my gut feeling was to use Home Improvement by Joseph. Joseph came and looked over the work that I needed to have done and with his experience made many great suggestions, which most of them I went along with, but Joseph is always willing to do things any way you ask him to. Joseph sent me his proposal which I was completely happy about and immediately accepted. Joseph started work promptly, Joseph showed up all the time that he said he would, Joseph never complained when unexpected obstacles popped up, as they do on a house of this age. He just would say “Don’t worry I’ll take care of it”. Joseph finished the whole house in what I thought was exceptionally fast time, his work was excellent, he was always in contact with me, I not once had to call Joseph to find out what was going on. Joseph turned out to be a man of High integrity, honesty and solid work ethics. I am very happy with my dealings with Joseph and now with my house."

"Mario and his team far exceeded expectations. They were flexible, responded extremely well to plan changes, provided recommendations that improved the overall design, were patient with building restrictions, operated with the utmost integrity and were quick to respond to inquiries. I would highly recommend City Line Interiors for any job, large or small. I will absolutely reach out to them again for any other remodeling/renovation services I might need."

"I had a very good experience with VNR Home Improvements. I had my bathroom and kitchen remodeled. Joe called me back every time I contacted him. The crew was there every day and worked very hard. Julio was easy to communicate and listened to my questions or concerns. The small issues that came up were addressed immediately and to my satisfaction. I've been in my house 36 years and it is wonderful to have a brand new bathroom and kitchen. I love them. Great work by VNR Home Improvements and they were very nice to work with."

"It went really well. They came in immediately and sealed off the basement from the rest of the house (There's no door to the basement)). They also set up very large and powerful hepa-air-cleaning units which they kept running through the whole job and in fact until the industrial hygienist returned for post-testing after the job was completed. The manager Mike assured me that the job would be done with the utmost effort and care and that's exactly what happened. The main workers, Marcello and Israel were terrific, meticulous, hard-working, reliable, responsive to any concerns I raised. I really couldn't have asked for any more. The post-test results showed Zero spores of the two bad molds with high readings in the pre-job testing. It's a really nice feeling when people come in and do the job just as they promised to."

FAQs for remodel to accommodate a disability projects in Staten Island, NY

Standard Medicare coverage often doesn't extend to home modifications, such as roll-in showers. In specific circumstances where medical necessity is clearly established, limited coverage might be available through certain Medicare programs. Many homeowners explore alternative funding sources such as home modification grants, veterans' benefits, or specialized financing programs designed for accessibility improvements. Consulting with a Medicare representative about your specific situation provides the most accurate guidance.

Roll-in showers deliver significant benefits beyond their monetary return, particularly in terms of safety, independence, and long-term accessibility. By eliminating barriers to bathing, these installations help prevent falls while accommodating mobility devices, such as wheelchairs or walkers. Their open design creates a contemporary appearance that appeals to many homebuyers. For households planning to age in place or accommodate family members with mobility challenges, the functional advantages often outweigh pure financial considerations.

A standard roll-in shower installation takes two to four days. Projects requiring extensive renovation or plumbing changes may take longer, potentially extending to several weeks or months. Factors affecting the timeline include existing bathroom configuration, permit processing times, contractor availability, and material delivery schedules. Creating proper drainage slopes often requires additional preparation time compared to traditional shower installations, particularly when modifying existing floor structures.
