It was a small job but made harder by the rocks and dirt they had to get rid of, and they did it with shovels. The cost was very reasonable and most of the work was completed in 2 very hot days. I have one minor problem with the retaining wall but they will be coming back to correct it. As of right now, I'm still very happy with the results. I'm giving them an A+ review. I highly recommend Bruce for any masonry work you may have. In this case he cleaned off old mortar from about 20 bricks that had been knocked loose from a brick wall and reset them. I contacted D&J to inquire about a concrete floor for a pole barn and that turned into a real partnership to not only do that, but Sandy also put a huge amount of effort into helping me find a builder for the pole barn itself. Both Jim and Sandy have been terrific to work with. The work itself is high quality, costs are very fair and Jim is completely transparent as costs are incurred. As the work progressed, the communication was outstanding. And as complications with the overall project occurred, Jim was a great partner to help me resolve those. For example, I found that I really needed to add a driveway to get to the new pole barn. Within about an hour Jim had a plan and schedule to get that done and delivered on it the next day."

Not everything was perfect from start to finish, but the mark of someone good to work with is that if something isn't how you want it, you talk about with them, they listen, and then they make it right. The best advice I can give someone considering this company is to have a little patience and don't expect that everything is always going to go according to schedule... the weather and other factors outside your contractor's control often will set things back. The important thing, in my opinion is to end up with a finished product that matches your intent and lasts. This review is being written a couple weeks after the work was completed, so I can't speak to the longevity of the work, but I got everything that I was looking for and don't see any reason that it won't last. One of the delays in my job was due to weather, and maybe some contractors would have gone ahead with work even if conditions were not ideal, but Shaun explained why due to rain the previous day we needed to wait to perform the pour, and I was fine with the delay... I don't doubt that it was the right choice. I also contacted 6 concrete contractors over a 1 year period (3 never returned my calls / texts, and one was almost twice as much) and this company was the best deal."

"Tommy and his team did a great job on our chimney! Once it finally stopped raining Tommy and his crew got to work and finished in a reasonable amount of time. Anytime I texted Tommy he would respond answering any questions I had. His work was top notch, rebuilt the crown (which looks bomb proof) and cut out the brick mortar out down to the roof line. Tuck pointed and painted my chimney. Not single drop of water has come in since he finished his work. They cleaned up all materials afterwards too! Really pleased that we hired Tommy Mattingly Masonry, I will be using him again in the future for any of my masonry needs."
