"Excellent experience — Highly recommend to homeowners in the Tallahassee area!! I was nervous about having an EV charger installed based on YouTube videos related to malfunctions leading to possible house fires. After researching the project, I learned that the issues were primarily related to improper installs of the 240 volt outlet. I also learned it was important to hire an experienced electrical pro who could hardwire the charger. Weston Trawick proved to be the right choice from the initial visit with the service manager, Robbie Gilliam to the install with Jason Whitman and his assistant (apologies for forgetting the assistant’s name). They were extremely professional and patient with me throughout the install and allow me the watch the process from beginning to end. Additionally, Weston Trawick’s price was the best of the 4 electricians that quoted the project."

"This was my first experience using an Angi contractor. I placed my ad over the weekend. Received a text from Angi Monday morning that 2 contractors had responded. Before I could log into my account, Mr. James with Macon was calling me. I explained what I needed, and an appointment was scheduled for the following Saturday! The technicians showed up a few minutes before the appointment time and went straight to work. Very professional and polite, and very experienced electricians. I am very pleased with the work done, and James' consideration. I won't hesitate to call on Macon for future electrical projects."

FAQs for electrical for home addition or remodel installation projects in Tallahassee, FL

There are several telltale signs that your home is due for an electrical upgrade. You may need to rewire your house if your lights are constantly flickering or your circuit breaker keeps tripping. If you feel mild electric shocks when you touch light switches, hear buzzing sounds, or notice burning smells, you may need to rewire your house, too. Discolored or burnt-looking switches and faceplates are another crucial warning sign.

Properly installed copper wiring in a residential property can last as long as 50 to 100 years in some cases, but many homes over 30 years old are due for an upgrade. That’s the timeline that many experts recommend, even if it is only a partial update to accommodate technological advancements, increased power demands, and changing safety requirements.

At $3 to $5 per square foot, the cost to wire a 2,000-square-foot house ranges from $6,000 to $10,000, on average. This can depend on many factors, like the age and complexity of the house and how easy it is for contractors to access the areas they need to get the job done. Opening and repairing walls can further add to your total cost.
