"I have worked with Dan and his team for over four years. He has helped transform my property into a beautiful natural field and forest landscape with walking trails, an impressive collection of native trees and plants surrounded by a perimeter of evergreens for privacy. In addition, he designed and installed a stone patio that creates the perfect environment to sit and enjoy his handiwork. Highly recommended!"

"I looked for 20 years for someone to repair my bowing/disintegrating foundation/basement wall of my near century home. I found the right team at Koontz. Granted, I had to wait a bit, but it was worth it. They began by getting everything approved by the city and the Landmark Commission. They excavated and demoed the existing wall to footer depth, formed and poured a new footer, built a new wall, and added brick veneer. They also installed new windows, perorated drain tile and new window wells. The surprise came when they inspected existing the downspout pipe and found blockage, so they installed new downspout drain and tied in 3 additional downspouts. Every step of the way they tried to accommodate my persnickety requests, saving my plantings and my existing brick so I could repurpose. They even helped me fix my wheelbarrow. Everyone was delightful, courteous, and respectful."

"Awesome and friendly service!! They were in and out in a day! They had to replace a small patch of concrete that butted up to the house so they could waterproof there, and it looks almost identical to the rest of my patio, which I am very excited about!"

FAQs for brick and stone patios, walks, and steps installation projects in Tallmadge, OH

When cleaning your flagstone patio, begin by gently hosing off loose dirt and debris. Use a mild solution of white vinegar and water or diluted dish soap to scrub the surface with a soft-bristled brush. Avoid using abrasive tools, such as wire brushes, as they can damage the stone’s seal and finish. This careful approach effectively removes mold and grime while preserving the natural beauty of your patio.

Flagstone naturally offers a neutral palette that includes shades of grey, black, red, yellow, brown, and tan, and its inherent color cannot be altered. Choosing varieties like bluestone provides a subtle bluish tint that complements many exterior designs. These natural hues enhance curb appeal and create a refined, timeless look in your outdoor space, ensuring a sophisticated finish with minimal upkeep.

Flagstone for a patio must have a minimum thickness of 1.5 inches to reliably support furniture and foot traffic. Using stone that is two to three inches thick is recommended to ensure lasting durability. The increased thickness prevents cracking under load and enhances long-term performance. Investing in thicker flagstone provides superior stability and resistance to weather conditions, ensuring your outdoor space remains both safe and attractive.

You can paint a flagstone patio by using a high-quality, outdoor elastomeric latex paint designed for heavy foot traffic. Painting not only refreshes the patio’s appearance but also creates a waterproof barrier that protects the stone from damage. Regular reapplication every one to two years maintains its durability and visual appeal, ensuring your patio remains both stylish and well-protected.
