"Schiffelbein's were completely professional, their work was top-notch, they workmen were punctual and friendly, they explained the process for completing the work, and finished right on schedule. They were also able to start the work soon after they gave us the bid and we signed a contract. Their bid was $2000+ less than two other contractors who bid the job. The other contractors would have required us to wait until late summer or early fall to do the work. They did some extras we did not expect but were very happy with: 1) Removed sod along the sides of the driveway to lay the wood forms and then replaced it as they completed each section! Our neighbor's contractor removed the sod and left a trench along the completed driveway and sidewalk that he later had to fill and replant with grass -- and their contractor was one of the two who gave us a bid $2000 higher than Schiffelbein's bid! 2) The driveway and sidewalk were poured such that the yard is slightly lower than the surface of the driveway and sidewalk, so water will run off into the yard and not vice-versa. This will also make it much easier to shovel any snow that accumulates in the winter. 3) The color was perfect, a light gray as opposed to bright white, a more natural look. 4) After the driveway was finished, the owner stopped by to see if we were satisfied or had any questions, and also gave us some literature and tips on care and maintenance that we would not have known about. We are delighted with the finished product and the company who did the work."

"Being a Mechanical Engineer, I have very specific requirements for my sidewalks. These include 3 linear runs of half inch rebar, cross tied every 24 inches and mounted on chairs. This is not the usual sidewalk that people install. I don't intend for it to ever crack. The total job amounted to over 650 linear feet of concrete work. That's the sidewalks for 1/4th of a city block and the front sidewalk."

FAQs for concrete driveways & floors installation projects in Topeka, KS

Polished concrete floors offer many benefits with very few drawbacks. While issues like discoloration, stains, or imprints may occur during pouring, these are rare when working with a skilled flooring contractor. Once polished, concrete floors are easy to maintain, long-lasting, and eco-friendly. They also resist mold and moisture, making them ideal for allergy-prone households, and offer versatile design options for both indoor and outdoor use.

Polished concrete flooring is often more affordable than tile. It involves lower material costs and less labor-intensive installation. Tile installations require additional leveling and preparation, which increases labor costs. Opting for concrete flooring helps reduce upfront expenses and provides a durable, stylish finish that saves money over time with minimal maintenance.

While epoxy flooring offers enhanced durability and toughness compared to polished concrete, it comes with higher material and labor costs. If budget is a top priority, polished concrete floors provide a resilient and attractive finish without the premium price tag, making them an ideal choice for value and long-term performance.

Polished concrete floors last 20 years or more when installed by licensed professionals and maintained with proper care. Their enduring finish withstands heavy use and remains visually impressive for decades. Regular deep cleaning and maintenance help safeguard the floor’s integrity, providing homeowners with a long-lasting, cost‐effective solution that endures daily wear without compromising style.

Polished concrete floors increase home value by offering a modern, sleek appearance and exceptional durability. A professionally installed floor not only enhances visual appeal but also minimizes maintenance expenses, making the property more attractive to prospective buyers. This flooring upgrade delivers a refined look while boosting overall market competitiveness and long-term property value.
