"The installation of our new ceiling lights was done efficiently and meticulously. They installed them on the weekend and were so thorough, we didn't even know they had been there, except our office is bright again! We will definitely hire them again for our future projects."

"About two years ago I used Absolute on a significant roof repair. I have a valley with metal sheathing that was not replaced when the former owners roofed, so it was decrepit. I was given two options -- to replace or to repair. I chose the latter and the problem was solved. This time with the more recent heavy rains, I had additional leaks. The vent pipes needed resealing. Even though this was a small job for a roofing company, the responded to the work timely and in coordination with me and got the job done. It hasn't rained yet, but I don't expect further problems. Also, s tile on a separate part of the roof was blown free. When giving the estimate, he noticed it, and fixed it then and there for no charge, even though I had not even received his most recent bid."

"It went excellent. They were prompt and performed everything to my liking. They brought me lots of different tile samples to choose from and there was no high pressure sales tactics. If there was something that I wanted changed they were quick to accommodate. They are the top roofer in the Antelope Valley."

"My energy bills were going through the roof around seven months ago and I was pretty sure that there weren’t any energy leaks but decided to get an inspection on exactly what was going wrong anyway. After contacting quite a few energy efficiency companies, I came across LA Landmark Energy Upgrades and was relieved. They were educated, informed about the mainstream and alternative options. They weren’t pushy selling their services, but really cared for my situational needs. After an extensive evaluation and analysis, they suggested going for an energy efficient roof. I was hesitant to go through with it at first... with more expenses. Yet, I realized that the long term investment would be well worth it... and months later, I can say it truly was!!! After the installation, I saw that the bills came down by a huge margin."

"The owner of Handyman Unlimited is a charming and charismatic guy.  He has good ideas and seems genuinely interested in doing an excellent job.  We had used Handyman Unlimited for a laundry list of household repairs on our 70 year old home, and the worker who was sent, Walter, was a great problem-solver and technician.  So, we didn't hesitate when the proposal for the bathroom remodel was presented.  Great workers, good follow-through and beautiful design ideas.  What could go wrong? <br /> Well, the company is stretched so thin that the promise that scheduling would be continuous and the entire job would take 2-3 weeks was not possible.  We had days when there were workers tripping over each other and days when somebody showed up unannounced and then couldn't do the work that he was scheduled to do.  We had problems with materials; we went to the vendors where the owner sent us to pick out fixtures and tile and then he didn't place the orders until the demo was started, only to find out that there were delays on the floor tile, delays on the faucet set.  The electrician picked up the materials, dropped them off without checking the cartons and when he came back to do the installation, there were parts wrong or missing. <br /> Some of the tradesmen were brilliant: Robert, who does dry wall, Moses, who does tile work -- so skilled, so caring, really great to have them in the house. <br /> Some -- not so much.  The painting subcontractor sent a team of painters who were obviously being paid by the hour, not the job. They were also obviously being charged for materials; they didn't want to lay plastic down to cover the stairs and there was a lot of screaming on a cellphone about, I think, quantity of paint.  They spent over 9 hours painting a bathroom area that should have taken much less time. <br /> The plumber was in completely over his head.  The house was 70 years old when Tom came and bid the job and it was 70 years old when the plumber showed up.  The plumbing was 70 years old.  Still is. And yet the plumber didn't seem to be able to solve any of the problems that came up.  He installed the new whirlpool tub, filled it with water and then discovered that the drain was blocked. He bailed the tub out and left.  We never saw him again.  Good thing we had a really competent plumber who has worked in this house for years;  he came over and solved the problem.  I would never have believed that Handyman Unlimited was responsible for the charges to clear that drain no matter who cleared it.  But to just leave with the problem unresolved and then to not hear from the company first thing the next morning was inappropriate. <br /> Like I said, the owner is charming and charismatic.  However, until he finds more tradesmen, and better plumbers to send to your remodel job, I would look for somebody else. <br /> Having said all that, the bathroom is GORGEOUS!   <br /> The 2-3 week job took 8 1/2 weeks.  Don't know if that would be considered normal for a remodel, but we didn't move walls, we just put in a new tub and new tile.  Maybe it was so disruptive because this is the en suite bathroom in our master bedroom, so the construction zone was our bedroom. <br />"

"We had Ocean Seven Builders redo our roof after a small leak turned into a bigger problem. Ron was the one we dealt with, and he just felt easy to talk to from the start. No pressure, no upselling, just explained what made sense. The crew showed up when they said they would and worked pretty steadily through the job. What I noticed most was how clean they kept things?no nails or trash left around. The roof looks great and we?ve had zero issues since."

"We have a 4,300 square-foot roof. They arrived promptly on a Monday morning. All old roof materials were removed by Tuesday afternoon. Necessary repairs were made and the entire roofing process was completed by Thursday afternoon. All scrap and extra materials were removed daily and trailers and materials stored neatly and out of the way each evening. Workers arrived promptly each. morning at 7:30 and the property was clean and materials stored by 4:00 each afternoon. The owner, Mike Oughton, came by twice before the job began. Once to give us the estimate and recommend the best roofing materials based upon our situation and location and a second time so we could pick the roof color and set the project dates. Mike is professional, knowledgable and his employees were great to work with. Mike was here every day working and to oversee the progress. The roof was finished on a Thursday and Friday/Saturday we got 3.5 inches of rain. We are warm, dry and very pleased! <br />"

"They came out during a big rain to evaluate the problem.  The serviceman returned on a dry day to apply sealant over the affected area.  They offered to do the whole porch roof for $600, which may have been a good idea.  I was feeling the pinch, however, and we stayed focused on the one area that was leaking at the time.  For $100 they sealed the seam between the house roof and the porch roof.  Plus, they cleaned the rain gutters. Solid work, and made time for a small job.  Thanks, BAS! <br />"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Trona, CA

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
