"Dennis and his helper (sorry, I don’t remember the name) were quick to come out and look at the tuck pointing that needed to be done on my brick wall. Dennis gave me a very fair price for the job. They were both very friendly and courteous. They did a quality job and worked with me to make sure I was satisfied."

"Melton Family Masonry did excellent work repairing multiple stone retaining walls around our property, adding a new retaining wall, expanding a section of our driveway, and repairing our entryway stairs. They offered excellent advice on different solutions to our issues. They were thorough, reasonably priced, friendly, and efficient. Everything looks great and we couldn't be happier. We highly recommend them."

"Due to the installation of two new HVAC units, I needed to take down the existing brick lattice wall that surrounded the older units. The new HVAC units required more space which meant the concrete pad needed to be extended. I contacted Mark by phone and spoke to him about the project. We settled on a time to meet the next day. Mark arrived on time and made a good impression. The project required the removal of the existing wall, saving and cleaning the existing brick, pouring an additional concrete pad, matching and purchasing additional bricks and reinstalling the wall. Mark, and his wife, carefully took down the existing wall, saving all but two bricks for reuse. The bricks were cleaned and neatly stacked. A couple of bricks were taken to his brick supplier, and they were able to match my 25-year-old brick to newer brick. Mark rebuilt the wall better than the original wall. I cannot say enough good things about this experience. Mark delivered on his promises which included the quality and timing of his work."

"What an amazing company! They came out to give us a quote right away. We discussed it and made arrangement for them to come out the NEXT day!!! They were punctual and prepared. They brought everything needed for the job. They discussed finding that the garage door had no lentil. They went and got a piece of metal themselves and then completed the project. They also pointed out some mortar damage elsewhere and fixed that as well. They were very professional and courteous. I will definitely contact them for any future masonry or construction needs that may arrive! I highly recommend this company!"

FAQs for brick or stone tuck pointing projects in Trussville, AL

Masons charge between $70 and $110 per hour. A mason may have a minimum service fee ranging from $80 to $300. Most bricklayers offer free estimates and charge only if you proceed with the project. This clear pricing model assures that professionals inspect your property before beginning work and charge based on your project’s actual requirements.

A professional repointing lasts 20 to 30 years without maintenance and extends up to 50 years when maintained diligently. This process protects your brickwork using high-quality materials that ensure lasting performance and durability. Consistent upkeep preserves its strength and appearance, providing enduring protection and enhancing your home’s overall structural integrity for decades.

You know your house needs repointing when you notice clear signs such as cracked, flaking, or missing mortar and visible discoloration on the brick surfaces. Additional indicators include loose bricks, water damage, and gaps between the brick joints that compromise the overall integrity of the structure. Addressing these issues promptly protects your investment and sustains the durability and curb appeal of your home.

A house needs repointing to preserve both its structural integrity and visual appeal. Mortar acts as a vital bonding agent that holds the bricks securely together. When the mortar deteriorates, it exposes the structure to water infiltration and further decay, increasing the risk of costly repairs. Repointing stops decay and reinforces the exterior, ensuring long-term protection.
