"After seeing several water spots on my ceilings, I called two roofing companies to evaluate. One recommended an inexpensive solution for a few minor repairs. Jay from Home Wise recommended a full replacement. After a lengthy discussion to try to understand why the disparity, I went with Jay and full replacement. When my shingles were removed it was just like Jay said - multiple areas of excessive water damage with many pieces of plywood being replaced. The inexpensive repair would have been a complete waste of money. The work went smoothly and I have a beautiful new roof. I highly Recommend Jay and his team. Could not find a better company for your work."

"Dominion Roofing was one of three companies that bid on my roofing job, but Bill Fowler was the only one who observed specific problems created by out-of-date construction techniques and recommended a full solution. Bill worked with me graciously when delays in other work on my house and adverse spring weather required pushing back his schedule. His team ultimately performed all of the work (full roof and gutter tear-off and upgrade replacement and installation of new soffit venting) in a timely fashion. Bill also worked with me professionally to resolve an unexpected cost overrun resulting from the necessity of replacing severely rotted fascia boards. Prior to this job, Dominion Roofing had also promptly repaired leaks in a previous roof, and professionally rebuilt and reroofed a rotted and leaking porch roof. I highly recommend Dominion Roofing and will call them first for any future work."

"<p>Though I did not provide a review at the time. It is not a reflection on AA Roofing. I loved these guys. First of all I am a woman, the owner came taked to me as if I was a intellgent human being. Not as though I was a dummy. I didn't know much when I got started but I did my research and found out what I needed to know about getting this roof repaired. Other companies sent hot looking guys to take with me. But I am a girl who looks at the bottom line.. <br /> The owner came. We talked about what it would cost me--around $4,900 if memory failed me. He was not the cheapest, but he explained to me the methodolgy he would be using as wells as the materials. This was very much in line with my research. I want quality and a believe I got it. The office staff was very pleasent and responsive as was the owner. I have his card around here, and I apologize for forgetting his hame. <br /> This was a major job. The mansard roof with slate was replaced, cooper They reparied most of the roof. Rubber was torched and sealed. I asked for pictures. I got approximately 30 pictures. The pictures encompass each stage of the repairs. The stripping and then the repair. I was blown aways, I did not anticipate so many. That lead me to pay for the aluminum coating of the roof and the front porch.<br /> After the work was done, they cleaned the areas and took away the refuse.</p> I did have on minor issues. There was a leak around the sunroof. I have them a call they came back the next morning and took care of the issue. NO MORE ISSUES. I AM HAPPY AND RECOMMEND AA ROOFING TO ANY AND EVERYONE. THAN YOU ANGIE! <br />"

"ARHT expertly guided me through the entire roof and gutter install. Since the house required additional tree trimming and soffit repairs they provided suggestions for subcontractors. Overall the house looks better and no more roof leaks!"

"I had used Dry Home Roofing to replace my roof several years ago and to repair a skylight. I found them to be reasonably priced, honest and easy to work with. When I was told I needed new gutters, I contacted them and two other companies. They were more reasonably priced for both the gutters and the new ridge vent and kept me informed of installation dates as we contended with several winter storms. The gutters and ridge vent installation went well and I am happy with the service provided."

"My experience with the Next Level Home Remodeling went wonderfully from beginning to end. I called the company first to make sure my townhouse met the deal requirements as I have three floors and the offer was for two story homes. Geoff got back with me assuring that he would be able to offer me the deal. Then he go over the contract details. I found him to be extremely honest about what needed to be done, not pressuring me into unnecessary work. I found this extremely refreshing as most contractors I had met with wanted to take hours of my time with presentations of overpriced materials and persuasion to go with their company. Geoff was very no nonsense, he gave his opinion of my roofing needs and then left it up to me if I wanted to sign a contract or not. The crew arrived on time, worked efficiently, were very kind and professional. They took the time to cover my decks and yard and cleaned up afterwards. My roof is beautiful! I highly recommend Next Level Home Remodeling and would not hesitate to use them in the future!"

"Stefan was busy due to a bad storm north of me. We schedule a date, but he had a accident and contacted me. I was under control with my problem so we schedule a week later. He kept me inform with his progress and he came on the date promised. He checked out the roof and the pipe. He caulk the pipe and the seams to prevent leakage. He took photos for me to see what he did.  He always explain to me about the roof issues because I like to learn for any future problems that might arise. I recommend Stefan if you need any roof repair or a new roof. <br />"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Tuscarora, MD

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
