"Chuck and his team made my dreams into reality and exceeded my expectations. Their work was impeccable! The team with Chuck were skilled, knowledgeable and proficient. They totally remodeled three bathrooms in a very timely manner including plumbing, electrical, flooring, Wall construction, tiling, and painting down to the smallest details. My new tub is fabulous with a built-in shelf behind it! Any minor imperfections were addressed quickly and to my satisfaction. As a whole, you can trust this company of skilled people to be honest, trustworthy, and reliable! When the project was completed I did not hesitate to hire them again to build a beautiful deck for me. They transformed my backyard patio area from an eyesore to an exquisite living space. In this day and age where there are so many contractors it is difficult to choose, but using DreamMaker with Chuck and his team was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I would not hesitate to hire them again when it’s time for me to remodel my kitchen. You will not be disappointed when choosing dream maker."

"Excellent, completed on-time and on budget despite some on the fly changes. Keith handled all the oversight, materials procurement, and subbing for some work delegated to other professionals (plumbing, electrical, mudding/taping, and shower door in our case). His on-site team (Brian and Justin) did all the demolition, new drywall, shower wall re-build, heated floor and tile installation. The team was good about reviewing some on the fly changes in the design and were prompt and professional throughout the engagement. We would HIGHLY recommend Master Bath Specialists LLC for any bathroom remodel project (in addition to other projects they might consider)."

"BACKLUND PLUMBING service turned out good. Nothing stood out about their service either good or bad. I don't think there's anything they could have done to make the experience better. I don't know, I really have no comparisons for the price, really. I think so, I would use them again in the future."

"Our technician explained the options and fulfilled our request within 24 hours. Price was comparable to several other local companies; however, this company was able to do the installation right away."

"Frank from Eyman Plumbing did a phenomenal job. I purchased two toilets and a bathroom sink and faucet with new shut off valves at Lowes and arranged installation through Lowes with Eyman. These were replacing original fixtures from 1965 and I expected a few hiccups and let them know. However, Frank from Eyman anticipated those hiccups and had everything available on his truck. He even was able to anticipate the correct type of shut off valves when I described the age of the fixtures. I thought the job would take all day but it was completed in a single morning. I would hire them again and specifically ask for Eyman whenever I purchase more items fro Lowes."

"It went really well.  We live in a 60-year old home, and this sink was one that I found at a thrift store, believe it or not, for $19.98.  It was brand new, and my husband said it was a top of the line name brand.  I was so happy after taking measurements that everything would fit.  Our old ceramic sink really became sort of nasty looking, no matter how much Comic I used, plus the faucet was leaking.  I also know I could have had the ceramic sink refinished, but finding this sink the way I did, felt like an omen of sorts.  The sink actually had a new facet and side hose already attached, and I know those alone are very expensive, so I got a heck of a deal.  What's nice is I have never had a dishwasher after 35 years of marriage, and now I at least have a hose to help rinse dishes off, and it is located close to my Keurig coffee maker on the counter that now all I have to do is use my hose to fill the reservoir rather than keep a measuring cup nearby.  <br /> The plumber showed up on time and did end up having to leave for parts a couple of time (for which this time was not charged for), and he did a great job.  Southside Plumbing honored my Angie's List coupon, which helped with the cost, as well.  The plumber also suggested putting in shut-off valves under my kitchen sink for a very minimal cost, which is nice because now if we have sink problems, we won't have to go to the basement and shut all the water off.  <br /> Kudos to Louise, the plumber, who went out of his way to not only get the sink put in and working, but everything was spotless when he left.  Thanks Southside Plumbing! <br />"

"Major Drain made quick work of cleaning my main drain. They really know what they are doing and my place was nice and clean when they left. I couldn't possibly have rented an auger and done the job as well. I do a lot of home remodelling and I know when it makes sense to call the pros in their field."

"At the beginning of 2016 Ed from Bob's Home & Business Repair completely renovated two of our bathrooms. We are really happy with the work that was done. Ed was very thorough, had great suggestions regarding design, and was very easy to work with. The job took about a week longer than quoted (and as a result costed more in labor), but given the quality of work that was done it definitely was worth it. Even with the extra labor costs, the total charges still were about $15,000-$20,000 less than the quotes we received from two other highly rated companies on this site."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Underwood, IA

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
