"Great communications. Was there on time. Took about 3.5hrs. He did show me pictures but, to be honest his glass cover is so cracked/shattered it's hard to see the image very well. I overheard them on the phone about their next appointment so I think they were in a rush. They forgot to do my free dyrer vent cleaning until last minute when I pointed it out. I had to take some of the plastic off the returns they forgot as well I had to point out a couple access points they cut out in the metal of the HVAC that needed new covers. Overall not bad, but I feel if you are not there to supervise some things may get overlooked."

"'Called on a Friday morning and John answered, told him I had one of those old gas water-heater that circulates hot water throughout the house using baseboards. He said he wasn't familiar with the exact system, maybe I explained it wrong but he said that most of these systems all use similar systems and that he would take a look at it that afternoon at 1:00pm, and there would be a $50(maybe $75?) service fee that would be waived if I used his service, and he seemed pretty familiar with how our system worked even though he admitted he admitted he had not worked on one before,(I have to admit these units are awesome but have never ever seen one before, but once John saw it he hew exactly how the system worked). <br /> John was running late from a previous appointment but notified me right away that he would be there about 30 minutes later, if that was OK, (a lot of contractors would consider 30 minutes late, on time). <br /> He looked at the heater and diagnosed the problem. I also had another forced-air ac/heating system that I used only for air, and it had broke down the week before. John offered to diagnose that also (at no extra charge) and then I could choose, (someone else had diagnosed it as needing a new switchboard and blower motor, but he was just a mechanic offering assistance). John diagnosed the switchboard , (blower motor tested fine) and made some free adjustments on the unit and I chose the hot water system which was over 20 years old. <br /> He stocks a lot of parts in his van, so he made the connection and made sure everything was running correctly. He has a computer notepad that writes up and email's invoices and will charge your credit card so he has made some serious investments in his business( inventory and technology), so I would expect he will be around for quite awhile. <br /> Very nice personality, explains everything that he has diagnosed and is does not give you a sales pitch. My wife and daughter were both home at the time and neither one felt uncomfortable, I felt like I got a great deal and if I choose to have the force air/ac unit fixed I will choose M & J again. <br />"

"Ordered the health scan report to get a comprehensive analysis of our water beyond the suspected problem of bacteria. The sample kit arrived within a couple days. The results took about a week and a half. The results even identified the species bacteria and yeasts and included information on each."

FAQs for air ducts & vents cleaning service projects in Union-hill, IL

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) states that air duct cleaning is not required unless visible issues such as mold buildup, rodent droppings, or excessive dust are present. When such conditions exist, cleaning becomes essential to protect indoor air quality and maintain HVAC efficiency. This approach minimizes potential health risks and extends the system’s life.

Air ducts must be cleaned every three to five years as required by NADCA to preserve system efficiency and indoor air quality. The EPA insists that cleaning is necessary only when significant issues such as mold, pest infestations, or heavy dust accumulation are evident. Annual inspections by a certified professional promptly address any emerging concerns.

The ideal seasons for air duct cleaning are spring and fall. Cleaning during these periods prepares your HVAC system for the demands of both winter heating and summer cooling. These seasons provide moderate weather conditions that enable efficient service completion while minimizing disruption, ensuring your system performs at its peak.

Professional air duct cleaning takes a fixed duration of two to five hours, depending on the home’s size and the complexity of the duct system. Smaller residences with standard ductwork complete the service in two hours, while larger homes with extensive ducts require up to five hours. Additional repairs may extend this duration.

To prepare for professional air duct cleaning, ensure all vents are unobstructed by moving nearby furniture and clearing pathways. Secure any pets in a safe area and confirm that your HVAC system units are easily accessible for technician inspection. Proper preparation contributes to a higher quality service outcome and prevents delays, allowing the cleaning process to proceed efficiently.
