"PD Duct Cleaning did a wonderful job for us today. They were very professional and extremely courteous. He was able to show us before and after pictures of the ductwork. I feel better knowing that I?m not breathing all that dust now. The whole team was personable. They shared a lot of love with our bulldog. I would definitely use their services again."

"Mike King's work from initial consultation to completion and billing was excellent overall. He was very thorough in inspecting our HVAC system and in explaining the proposed solution. He thoroughly answered all of the questions I had at the initial consultation and promptly and substantively responded to followup questions point-by-point. One part of the estimate involved improvements in the return air system, but could only be approximate since what needed to be done could only be known in the course of installing the new system. He was upfront about the uncertainty of the figure, but in fact the actual cost came in somewhat under the general estimate he was able to give. <br /> The Mike King crew arrived at the agreed-upon date and stayed on the job for 4 days until everything was complete. They were great about cleaning up the premises and hauling away debris. While the furnace and air conditioning units had to be replaced anyway, we were most concerned to solve the problem of a 10-degree differential in cooling between the upstairs and downstairs. The Tempstar zonal furnace system Mike recommended solved the problem completely. They noticed and fixed smaller elements (return air vents, direction of some blower vents) that have maximized the efficiency of this new system. Overall there was great attention to detail. When considering equipment, Mike King identified rebates available and promptly sent the necessary forms.  <br /> There were two issues with the work that should be noted, but this does not take away from the high level of satisfaction that we have with Mike King's firm: <br /> (1) Shortly after the crew left on the last day I noticed a drip from a pipe coming from a water softener near the new furnace. I called the office right away and emailed pictures of the leak. The same workman came back almost immediately and put on a new joint. About 10 days later the fitting failed. Fortunately I happened to be home and heard the pipe burst and was able to turn off the water. (It would have damaged expensive flooring throughout the house had I not been right there when it failed.) I made an emergency call and they sent another worker back the same day to do a more thorough fix. The firm could not really explain how or why this happened and is upfront that it does not do plumbing. But if so. the workman ought to have stressed that I needed to contact a regular plumber to ensure that the problem was taken care of. But it is consistent with the excellent service I received that Mike King personnel did not just say, "We're sorry, but we're not responsible for plumbing--you'll have to call a plumber to resolve this. Not only did they address the problem, but were very sympathetic and undertook to fix the problem right away.  <br /> It's possible that a workman did not cause the leak and that it could have failed anyway at some point. But it is a good lesson as to why it is important that any firm one uses should be fully insured. There could have been thousands of dollars in loss. <br /> (2) In cleaning the dryer duct, the workmen found and removed a bird's nest, thus averting the real chance of a fire. They installed a wire mesh screen on the exterior duct opening. A couple of weeks later, however, the dryer didn't sound right and I noticed that lint had built up against the screen, blocking the ventilation. I solved it by detaching part of the screen so lint would no longer catch. If they clean dryer vents regularly, this is a possibility the installers should be aware of and either not use the same type of screen or tell the homeowner to check to make sure such a buildup does not occur."

"Mike came out and looked at my old HVAC system. I knew I needed a new unit. I have heard several positive comments about Becht-Givens so I asked for a higher quality Lennox System. I am very satisfied with the Price, installation and maintenance of my new Lennox system- I can really feel the difference- I also had them install UV light that kills virus and stops Mold. Healthy Air - Healthy Life. Ask about that."

"I live out of state and recently inherited a home in Floyds Knobs.  While waiting for the estate to clear, the home was vacant, and we only discovered 2.5" of water in the basement after it had been there for two weeks.  We called PuroClean, and within 2 hours Matt C. was there to check on the extent of the damage.  An hour later he had brought the equipment to remove the water and fix the sump pump (which had stopped working and caused the flooding after a heavy rain).  By the end of the day (on a Friday!) the water was gone.   <br /> Over the next two weeks, PuroClean removed all of the damaged woodwork, paneling, carpet, drop ceilings, etc. from the basement.  They dehumidified and got rid of the mold from the remaining framing.  Matt C. made several more trips to the house to check that it stayed dry.   <br /> I am *thoroughly* pleased with the result of PuroClean's work.  Matt C. was very good about communicating with me via phone and email since I don't live there.  I highly recommend PuroClean."

"The test kit came promptly. We prepared it, sent it back, and received the report the next week. The report itself was quite limited, and not nearly as in depth as the annual report filed by our municipal water company. We expected more detail and were disappointed."

"They were thorough and professional and great listeners. Their proposals were well done and clear and the owner of the business presented them himself. Installation was flawless and they removed the old unit. They left the project site as clean as when they had arrived. <br />"

"They are a very professional and personable company. They do a wonderful job of not only the installation but also in cleaning up and removing the old furnace. We have used their services for years and I would not hesitate recommending them to anyone. <br /> There have been times we have had a problem with our furnace and/or air conditioner. We have reluctantly had to call after hours on occasion for a problem and they are so nice to come out to check out the situation and make necessary repairs. <br />"

"Awesome! I'm in a new home from my last review, 25yr old units. Again I rounded up all the usual HVAC suspects, had 7 of them come out, make their pitch, give quotes, etc. That's a lot of time. Some were very cheap, concerningly so. Some were ridiculously expensive. Home Comfort fell right in the middle, for a pair of Tranes and duct cleaning. Installation went smooth, the guys were extremely pleasant and professional. The sales guy followed up a few weeks later, the office a few months after that. This was a spring install so they sent a tech out to fire it up and inspect for winter usage. Everything went ridiculously smooth and easy. I'd absolutely recomend again."

FAQs for air ducts & vents cleaning service projects in Urbana, IN

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) states that air duct cleaning is not required unless visible issues such as mold buildup, rodent droppings, or excessive dust are present. When such conditions exist, cleaning becomes essential to protect indoor air quality and maintain HVAC efficiency. This approach minimizes potential health risks and extends the system’s life.

Air ducts must be cleaned every three to five years as required by NADCA to preserve system efficiency and indoor air quality. The EPA insists that cleaning is necessary only when significant issues such as mold, pest infestations, or heavy dust accumulation are evident. Annual inspections by a certified professional promptly address any emerging concerns.

The ideal seasons for air duct cleaning are spring and fall. Cleaning during these periods prepares your HVAC system for the demands of both winter heating and summer cooling. These seasons provide moderate weather conditions that enable efficient service completion while minimizing disruption, ensuring your system performs at its peak.

Professional air duct cleaning takes a fixed duration of two to five hours, depending on the home’s size and the complexity of the duct system. Smaller residences with standard ductwork complete the service in two hours, while larger homes with extensive ducts require up to five hours. Additional repairs may extend this duration.

To prepare for professional air duct cleaning, ensure all vents are unobstructed by moving nearby furniture and clearing pathways. Secure any pets in a safe area and confirm that your HVAC system units are easily accessible for technician inspection. Proper preparation contributes to a higher quality service outcome and prevents delays, allowing the cleaning process to proceed efficiently.
