"Aria Pro Builders is changing the perception of the construction business industry. Nir is an honest, talented, creative General Contractor who runs his business with the highest integrity and care. All of his crew members have been amazing, professional and the highest quality in their trade. All new tile floors elevated these bathrooms into Spa Settings! All on time or ahead of schedule! "He did a bad job, he painted the front door at the top so now there is paint on the glass because he did not tape it off and did not try to clean it. He complained about the previous guy that painted it because there were spots but he did a worse job painting it while holding onto his phone while he is painting and put the wrong color. The back door he put a deadbolt in but it just spins so I had to hire a locksmith to fix it. I had a door jammer on my office and master bedroom door that he was supposed to have it installed but it did not work so I had to have the locksmith fix that also. He was supposed to do touch paint on the wall by the door frame an he did not do it, I went around to check the work after he left because he said he was done and found these issues, I had to hire someone else to fix these issues. He gave the key to my neighbors which they came into my house and ruined mt computer."

"Raul from Dubon's Construction did an outstanding job for us. From the moment I met him, I knew I would hire him, even if his bid was higher—he’s low key, easygoing, and clearly experienced. He handled a small job quickly and came back the next day despite having bigger opportunities after the recent rains, which showed real integrity. He also advised us on several future projects, mostly windows, offering options and recommendations based on what was best for us, not his wallet. He was upfront about being very busy but promised that with proper notice he’d schedule us as soon as possible—and he delivered. We also had a difficult tenant situation, and Raul’s calm, respectful demeanor completely won him over; the tenant ended up thanking him. If you want someone you can trust—experienced, professional, and fair-Raul and Dubon's Construction are the way to go. I rarely write reviews, but this experience was so positive I felt compelled to share."

"Hired Luis for a complete foundation replacement for a home on a hill in Angelino Heights. Luis was very easy to work with from coordinating plans/permits, keeping to schedule, and scope changes along the way (LA City was a PITA). Luis was easy to talk to and his pricing was the best out of 5+ bids we got. Work involved replacing the entire footing/foundation, leveling interior floors, adding a few posts and support beams under the raised foundation, and replacing front patio cement area. Luis was always looking out for our bottom line and very efficient. Normally the type of foundation replacement we did requires multiple inspector visits but Luis knew the process well and only required one inspection after work was done, saving us a lot of money. Change orders were always handled professionally and very fair to both sides. Everything turned out great (I'm writing this review a year later). I highly recommend Angel Construction and wouldn't hesitate to hire them again."

FAQs for wood stairs and railings repair projects in Van Nuys, CA

Hiring a pro to refinish wooden stairs means labor makes up 20% to 30% of your total budget. That price covers sanding, staining, and sealing each step. In most cases, a certified refinisher can tackle a 10-step staircase in about two hours, then apply stain and sealant for a durable, eye-catching finish that stands up to daily traffic.

A pro can sand a standard 10-step staircase in roughly two hours, then needs another four to six hours for each coat of stain and sealant to dry. DIYers should budget up to a week for sanding, staining, and sealing in stages. With a crew on site, the bulk of the work is completed in a single day, minimizing disruptions while still achieving a high-quality finish.

It’s possible to refinish stairs without full-scale sanding by using chemical strippers, power buffers, or simply layering a fresh finish over the existing coat. Chemical strippers break down old stains and sealants, while buffers quickly shave off surface material. Even so, a quick hand-sand with fine-grit paper helps the new finish bond properly and look smooth. As always, suit up in protective gear and follow product directions to keep your wood—and yourself—safe.

For most stair projects, you’ll want two sandpaper grits. Begin with 80- to 120-grit to strip the old finish and even out rough spots, then move to 150- to 220-grit for a smooth, ready-for-stain surface. A power sander speeds up the coarse pass, but switches to hand sanding with the fine grit in corners and along edges to keep abrasion even and give stain or sealer something to grab onto.
