"Joe came out twice and was kind and helpful both times. It was a pleasure to work with him. His crew was knowledgable and did what Joe and I had agreed to. They shared their point of view and listened to mine. My trees look great. I will use them again next year."

"Interesting. I had a lot of fun working with this company. They were easy to work with, fair, did a great job, at a great price, in an efficient manner, and in my book, that's all that matters. <br /> <br /> Can't wait to see my apple tree 3-4 years from now . . . it will be stunning with a couple more visits my Ed, Jason and crew. Check out the pictures of my hammock swing in the apple tree! <br /> <br /> The only downer of the day was cheerfully greeting my new neighbor and introducing myself, all excited that this beautiful apple tree was finally getting the pruning it deserved, only to be responded to with a snotty, and quot;I hope your not cutting down that apple tree, the apples are delicious.and quot; What? I waited 8 months to close on the house so I could properly prune that tree. It's stunning now and I bet she regrets that snotty remark. It looks AWESOME! <br /> <br /> Thank you to all three of you for an awesome and stunning tree. <br /> <br /> Oh, and the hubby loves what you did to the front yard tree. He just loves the open airy feel. Funny, as happy as he is with the front yard tree, that's how happy I am about my apple tree. See you next year for sure. <br />"

"We were mostly happy with our yard and garden beds, but there were a few issues that we wanted help with. Todd spent 2 hours helping us clarify problems and gave very specific suggestions for native, drought resistant plants that would work in the various micro-climates of our yard. We had replaced a front lawn with a faux dry creek and lots of grasses and plants. We liked the way our front yard looked in the summer, but we needed more permanent structure for the winter. In the back yard, a strip of lawn that meanders between various beds had become uneven and overtaken with clover and dandelions. Last year I created a rain garden for drainage of the roof, but it needed some improvement. We first hired Todd for a 2-hour consultation during which we made suggestions and gave specific plant recommendations while we took copious notes. We did some work ourselves following his recommendations, but we also asked him to take on a few specific projects in the yard. Todd's crew showed up late one afternoon to take stock and do a little prep work. The next day it took just a couple of hours to replace the large bush with a maple tree and plant the shrubs and groundcover in the front yard. The back lawn was removed in short order and the surrounding beds were cleaned and defined. They quickly weeded all of the beds in the yard and spread 3 yards of rich compost to both front and back yards. The crew communicated what they were doing and occasionally asked our input on what they were doing. The new lawn has been seeded and we're waiting for it to take off. They did an awesome job and we couldn't have been happier with their work. <br />"

"Jeff provided the best vision for our backyard where others couldn't see beyond the existing plan. Now we have a wonderful patio to enjoy our entire backyard as opposed to being boxed in close to the house. Jeff had to work within the constraints of our budget, but made it possible to add on to the plan over the years without leaving the yard in an unfinished looking state. Jeff would have provided plantings but we opted to do this ourselves."

FAQs for lawn care aeration projects in Vernonia, OR

Aeration is the best way to keep your lawn healthy and vibrant. Annual aeration makes your lawn more breathable and helps nutrients reach the roots, improving water absorption and reducing puddles where pests might breed. However, timing matters. It's best to avoid aerating during droughts, extreme heat, or if your lawn is battling weeds. A local pro can help you determine the ideal time for your yard.

Most lawns benefit from annual aeration to keep them healthy and thriving. If your lawn has a lot of thatch buildup—more than half an inch—you might need to aerate twice a year for a couple of years to get it under control. But if your soil isn't compacted and there's minimal thatch, you might be able to skip a year.

When you hire a professional lawn care company, a standard 10,000-square-foot lawn takes about 30 minutes to aerate. Uneven, sloped, or especially large lawns can take significantly more time. So, depending on your lawn's size and condition, the process can take anywhere from half an hour to several hours.

The best time to aerate your lawn is during the spring or fall when your grass is actively growing and the soil has enough moisture. Aerating once in the spring and once in the fall yields the best results. Avoid aerating when your lawn is dormant or right after heavy rain when the soil is too wet—that can make aeration less effective.

Even if your lawn looks healthy, aeration can still be beneficial. If you have good growth, proper drainage, and little thatch, you might not need to aerate right away. Regular aeration helps water and nutrients reach the roots, keeping your lawn strong over time. Keep an eye on your lawn's condition to decide when it might need aeration.
