"Several years ago Devon did an amazing job installing our Thermador refrigerator and freezer (not easy or basic in any way!) for a reasonable price and with great professionalism. They are both still running well without incident!"

"The two electricians showed up on time and were very professional. They ended up installing a 100A circuit and the job was neat and well done. They cleaned everything up after themselves. I am very happy with the result."

"When our water heater broke unexpectedly, we used Home Adviser and were matched with Precision Today, which called us immediately and set up an appointment for the following morning to install a new a water heater! Andrew, the technician who did the work, was very professional, well-spoken and friendly. The poor guy worked for three hours, lugging two heavy heaters up and down stairs! When the job was done, we received pictures of the finished project and a description of it. This company goes the extra mile for its customers!"

"Called on a Saturday morning for emergency help after 1/2 our house lost electrical power. Received a call back from Barry one of their electricians. I described our problem and he immediately diagnosed a problem with exterior power supply from our power supplier ComEd. He recommended we call ComEd as their would be no charge if they repaired the problem. Barry gave me his cell phone number and asked me to keep him updated. ComEd came out and repaired the problem and restored the power as described by Barry. I appreciate the honesty of this company and their spot on advice. If we have any future electrical problems we will call them first!"

"Colin and his partner were excellent to work with. They are professional, experienced, quick, and clean. I had flush mounted lights put in as well as several light fixtures in and outside of my home, installed. He finished everything in two days. Additionally, I found his pricing to be fair. I checked with several other electricians and they had similar pricing but I felt that they didn’t explain the process of what they were doing as well as Colin did, which indicated to me that they did not have as much experience. I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking to get lights done to their home or any other electrical work. He is honest, fair, and a breeze to work with. Thank you again for all your great work, Colin!"

FAQs for electrical for home addition or remodel installation projects in Villa Park, IL

There are several telltale signs that your home is due for an electrical upgrade. You may need to rewire your house if your lights are constantly flickering or your circuit breaker keeps tripping. If you feel mild electric shocks when you touch light switches, hear buzzing sounds, or notice burning smells, you may need to rewire your house, too. Discolored or burnt-looking switches and faceplates are another crucial warning sign.

Properly installed copper wiring in a residential property can last as long as 50 to 100 years in some cases, but many homes over 30 years old are due for an upgrade. That’s the timeline that many experts recommend, even if it is only a partial update to accommodate technological advancements, increased power demands, and changing safety requirements.

At $3 to $5 per square foot, the cost to wire a 2,000-square-foot house ranges from $6,000 to $10,000, on average. This can depend on many factors, like the age and complexity of the house and how easy it is for contractors to access the areas they need to get the job done. Opening and repairing walls can further add to your total cost.
