"I noticed some discoloration around the vents under the roof, and Kenny came over for an estimate. He was courteous and professional. He gave me his honest opinion and said that the discoloration was small and limited and it wasn't necessary to do anything to ventilation until it's time to replace the roof. I don't need to have roof work done now, but when I do, Kenny and Raindrop Roofing will be on the top of my list."

"C & C Roofing guaranteed us no leaks and even promised to come back out if the leak continued anytime within the next few months after their repairs. We are pretty much through the rough weather season and that was not necessary as everything seems to have been taken care of properly on the first visit."

"Our roof was in really bad shape....a ninety-seven-year-old house and no one had ever replaced the roof, just added layers and layers of shingles....so I knew it would be a challenging task. But thanks to Steve Gibson and his very hard-working crew, they transformed our sad 'tarped' roof into a beautiful new one. Steve was very kind and helpful and was always available for any questions we had. He was very fair with the cost and we would highly recommend Gibson Roofing!"

"I received around 10 quotes for my roof. As a former carpenter I knew what I was looking for. I was happy with the quote but more impressed with the install team. Those guys worked hard and I am confident they did the work right. All I needed. Installing a roof isn't rocket science. You just have to follow certain principles which these guys did."

"JV Roofing is very responsive, knowledgeable, and helpful. During the snowy weather, a vent pipe was broken in half and the vent pipe base was torn away leaving a hole in the roof. I called JV Roofing to look over the damages at 11:00 am and was told that Juan would be there at 2:00 pm. He arrived before the scheduled time to help. Exceptionally good response time! He determined that the vent pipe would have to be repaired by a plumper. He went on the roof to repair the hole in a downpour and on a slippery slate tile roof. After the repairs, he said there are no charges since he was here anyway. I will be using JV Roofing in the future for sure."

"After contacting several roofing contractors I choose Giron roofing because they offered the best price for the product. Roger was very professional about what needed to done. The crew showed up, went to work removing and replacing the roof even though they had to work in the rain. The cleanup afterwards was great considering the conditions. I have already referred a neighbor to them."

"Excellent experience with our roof replacement from beginning to end. Our sales rep Lee was extremely personable, spent a lot of time ensuring we had details upfront, and was on par with his follow up. The crew that put roof on was on time every day, very interactive and educational at every step, and worked tirelessly despite the heat. Everything was cleaned up and hauled away after completion. I only gave price a B as we did not go with the cheapest, but the high quality is well worth the cost."

"They did an okay job. My house has shakes and it was pretty apparent that some of them had been removed and puttied over. There were a few places that I asked them to replace the shakes rather than put the old one back on. They broke one of my solar lights so they replaced that for me. They were easy to work with, they worked quickly, and they did a good job. I have no basis of comparison for the price or quality of their work because this is the first time I?ve had this work done."

"I had hired Arlo to perform painting in a house I am selling and I needed a gutter, downspout and flashing repaired. I needed it taken care of ASAP. Arlo told me he would have the gutter taken care of right away. Lloyd came early with the gutter already put together in his truck. He repaired the flashing, installed the new gutter and downspout and I don't think it took 30 minutes. Lloyd was professional and pleasant. I can not say enough great things about this business or Lloyd and Arlo. You cannot go wrong when you hire these gentlemen to take care of any project you need completed."

FAQs for heating cable for roof installation projects in Washougal, WA

A typical heat cable uses 5 watts per foot, regardless of the outside temperature. So, if your cable is 100 feet long, it uses 500 watts per hour. Expect to pay an additional $40 to $200 or more per month on your electricity bill. Be sure to turn manual cables off in the summer when you don't need them.

To install heat tape on your roof, place it along the lower edge in a precise zig-zag pattern to maximize coverage and heat distribution. Professional installers secure the tape with specialized clips that attach firmly to your shingles. This method ensures even heat distribution to effectively melt ice and snow while maintaining your roof's integrity during severe winter conditions.

Choosing between heated gutters and roof heating cables usually comes down to budget, appearance, and performance. Heated gutters cost less to install and blend seamlessly with your home’s exterior, making them a discreet, lower-cost option for preventing ice dams. Roof heating cables deliver more customizable and powerful heat along roof edges to handle heavy snow and ice, but they require more material and labor, increasing your upfront investment. Evaluate your roof design, winter weather demands, and energy budget to select the system that works best for your property.

Roof heating cables prevent ice dams by melting snow and stopping ice buildup at the roof edge. Ice damming occurs when melting snow refreezes on a cold roof—often right above the gutter line—and blocks water from draining, which can force moisture under shingles into your home. Heating cables maintain a warm channel that clears ice dams as soon as they form and protects your roof from water damage and structural issues.

Roof heating cables last between two and ten years before replacement is needed, wearing out faster than your roof itself. Their lifespan depends on climate severity, cable type, and exposure to physical damage. Consistent inspections and preventative maintenance—such as clearing debris, tightening clips, and checking electrical connections—can extend their service life and ensure reliable snow and ice protection each winter.

To safely remove snow from your roof, start with a specially designed roof rake, standing firmly on the ground and pulling snow downhill rather than climbing onto the roof. You can also apply calcium chloride ice melt to break up stubborn ice or gently use a secured rope from a safe vantage point.

Keep in mind that large snow slabs can weigh hundreds of pounds and pose a serious fall risk. If conditions are hazardous or you lack the right equipment, hire a professional to protect your safety and your roof’s integrity.
