"I contracted this Real Deal Modeling for a small bathroom remodel. The job was to tear out old sink, light fixtures and mirror and replace it with new ones. I purchased all fixtures; marble sink and backsplash, faucet, mirror and light fixture. Lance Ledford (owner) came to my home on 5/8/2023 and looked at what I wanted done. He agreed to do the job. He advised that he pays his guys $250 per day and that the job would be $500-$600. After a lengthy conversation he said since my son is a Sailor and he himself comes from a Navy family of “Seabees and Frogmen” he would give me a $100 discount so the price would be around $500.I showed all of the fixtures to Lance just incase I would need to exchange anything. He said that everything I bought was fine and would work. I purchased EVERTHING so the $500 was labor only. I gave Lance 10 days and times that I would be home or I could make arrangements to be home if any of those 10 days did not work for him. He told me to call him Thursday, 5/11 and he would let me know if he could do it the following day. I called him Thursday as agreed and he told me to call him Saturday, 5/13 at 10:00 AM and he would see if he could do it Saturday afternoon. I called him Saturday at the agreed time and he told me that he could do job the following day, which was Mother’s Day. I did not mind because my son is a Sailor in the US Navy and was stationed in Biloxi, MS so did not have any plans. The contracted time that Lance and agreed upon time of arrival was 11:00 AM. The bathroom remodel was Navy themed and it was a surprise for my son. Sunday, 5/14/23 Real Deal Remodeling was supposed to arrive at my home at 11:00 AM. At 12:02 PM no one had shown up yet so I texted Lance Ledford and wrote, “I guess you are not coming.” He called me back and said that the worker, Robert was on his way and should be there in ½ hour. At 1:00 PM still not worker so I texted Lance again and Lance called me and said he is on his way. The worker, Robert did not arrived until a little before 2:00 PM- almost 3 hours LATE. I asked Robert if he had the written job agreement and he looked at me like he had no idea what I was talking about. I asked him where the papers are for the with the cost of the job and the work taht was to be done that I discussed with his boss. He then told me it would cost between $800 to $1000 and that he was told to put in a sink. I told him that is NOT what I discussed with Mr. Ledford. I then told him to get his boss on the phone. Robert was called Mr. Ledford and I toled him to put Mr. Ledford on speaker. Robert told Mr. Ledford that there was a problem with the price and that I was told $250 per person per day. I heard Mr. Ledford tell Robert that “$250 wasn't going to happen” and that he needed his cut too. He said he needed to make a profit. The next thing I heard him say was $500 which is EXACTLY what Mr. Ledford discussed with me on May 8, 2023. He told Robert that I was, "cool and easy to get along with." After the conversation ended and I know what I was going to have to pay, I showed Robert EXACTLY what I needed done. Robert began the work and I had to run to Lowe’s to get items that Robert needed such as trim, plumber’s paste, drain plug etc. I came home gave Robert the stuff I bought and showed him where the paint was. I went into my kitchen to clean it up and all of a sudden, I heard a loud crash. I went into the bathroom and the mirror had shattered all over the place. I asked him if he was ok and he said yes. Robert then noticed that there was a chip in the marble and said, " Oh crap, there's a chip" and he pointed to it. I then said, “There is also a huge dent and ding on the faucet!” I was really upset and knew that I would have to take it up with Mr. Ledford. Robert made a HUGE mistake by installing the new marble sink and faucet BEFORE he removed the old mirror off the wall. The breaking of the mirror resulted in my brand-new sink sustaining scratches, both large chips and little pitted holes in the marble and the faucet had a big dent on the top along with 3 scratches that were clearly visible. Somehow the new light fixture was scratched as well. I was so upset and Robert knew it. Robert made at least 3 trips outside and called Lance. I assumed he told Lance what had happened. While he was outside, I got my vacuum and cleaned up the glass on the floor and marble sink. Robert came back and he was nervous and did not seem to know what to do for there. He then installed the water lines and asked me for a zip tie to keep the line it in place because he alleges that the water line was “kinking up.” Who uses zip ties in plumbing work! It was later found out that Robert installed the lines backwards and that is why they did not fit right. Robert went back out and was on his phone again. Robert finished up and took his stuff out to his truck. Lance called me and told me that the price of the work was $700 and that was with $100 discount. I was shocked, frustrated , angry and mortified. I bantered back and forth with him but eventually gave up and just paid him because I 60 years old and live by myself and did like confrontation while Robert was STILL in my home. I am sure Robert was told to stay there until he got a check for $700. In order to get Robert out of my home I wrote the check out for $700. Robert eventually left at around 7:30 PM. The next day, which was Monday 5/15, I was putting my things back in the vanity and the whole vanity was full of water and the water had leaked into my son’s room. The carpet along the wall was soaked in his bedroom. The back splash trim was coming loose and pulling away from the wall. In addition, Robert put the brand new mirror up but left a huge hole in the wall. I found the hole when I took the new mirror off the wall to paint the frame because it was off white and did not match the rest of the décor that I had in this Navy bathroom. There were brush strokes all over the walls around the mirror and above the back splash. It looked so tacky and unprofessional. I texted Lance and told him that I had a leak under my sink and the back splash was pulling away from the wall. He responded, “Are you kidding me? I’ll be out to find out what’s going on. I will be there between 4 and 6.” We did at one point and time talk on the phone and I was angry and told Lance. "Your guy busted up all my new fixtures too!" I thought that all of this would be addressed when Lance came back to look at all the problems that were caused by Robert. On Tuesday, 5/16/23 Robert came to my home to fix the problems NOT Lance. Lance was supposed to be the one to come out and fix EVERYTHING that was wrong but he sent Robert back, Lamce was supposed to be there between 4 PM and 6 PM but did not arrive Robert arrinved at 7:30! I told him to get the stuff fixed because I was tired and wanted to go to bed. He ripped the trim off the wall and fixed the leaky water line and left. I was told to buy more trim and he would return to put the trim up and pay me for it. I heard nothing from either Lance or Robert. On 5/18, I sent Lance a text and this is what I wrote, “What am I supposed to do with my unfinished bathroom? I can’t even paint until you guys mud the wall! Let’s get this done!” After numerous texting back and forth between 5/18 and 5/20, Lance told me that he would be at my home by noon on 5/21. Well, 5/21 at noon came and went and no Lance. There were numerous texts back and forth and he finally showed up at 3 PM – 2 hours late and walked in my home with his dirty boots on my brand new carpet. I told Lance Ledford that he and his workers were to come through the garage and enter through the mud room. Lance went into the bathroom and began to assess the problems. He told me that the water lines were installed backwards so he would need to switched them and finish fixing the everything else. Lance left for over an hour to go shopping at Home Depot. I was so disgusted by then but could not just leave everything unfinished. He returned with a new water line and the trim to replace the trim that his employee destroyed. After he was done fixing the wat"

Think of cement as the glue and concrete as the finished product. Cement is a powdered mix of heated limestone and clay. When you blend that powder with water, sand, and gravel, it hardens into concrete—the strong, durable material used for driveways, patios, and foundations. In other words, every concrete slab contains cement, but cement on its own isn’t strong enough for a driveway.
The price to install an asphalt driveway is $7 to $13 per square foot, slightly less than concrete. However, asphalt requires more maintenance than concrete and does not last as long. This shortened lifespan and increased need for maintenance make concrete a more economical choice in the long term, but ultimately, the choice is up to each consumer.
Most residential driveways do fine with a four‑inch slab. If you’ll park heavy trucks or RVs, bumping up to six or even eight inches adds strength and wards off cracks. Thicker concrete costs more up front, but it can save you repair bills later by standing up to bigger loads and freeze‑thaw stress.
Concrete driveways and asphalt driveways differ in material composition and performance. A concrete driveway is engineered for lasting durability and versatile design options, while an asphalt driveway is more economical initially, yet demands increased maintenance over time. Concrete surfaces provide extensive aesthetic choices and an extended lifespan, making them a strong investment for high-traffic areas.
A concrete driveway endures for 25 to 30 years with proper maintenance and installation. A concrete driveway lasts long because its durable composition and robust construction provide excellent resistance to wear and weather. High-quality installation, regular cleaning, and timely sealing all contribute to extending its lifespan and maintaining performance over decades.
