"We hired Davis Paving to do our driveway in March 2015. Paid Jeff the first 1/2 of the payment. Told us he would come and start tearing down the retaining wall that needed to be cut away for our new driveway as soon as the snow melted. The snow melted, we waited 2 weeks and didn't hear from Jeff, even after leaving numerous voicemail messages. Finally we heard back from him and he said that he hadn't been by to check the progress of the melting snow but he would in the next couple days. So we wait some more. The middle of April rolls around and they still haven't come to do anything. When we finally get a hold of someone it's Jeff's brother in law, Felix who tells us that Jeff's family has had a personal emergency and that is why we haven't seen or heard from Jeff. We understand that, we really do but, it's not very professional to just leave people hanging like that, no phone calls no word at all, especially after you've taken our money. A couple more weeks go by finally get a phone call from Jeff and he says that he hasn't been by to do anything because he is waiting on the asphalt company to open for the season, which will happen the first week of May. We wait some more..........May 30th is when the ground work started. June 12th they cut down the retaining wall after waiting almost 2 weeks for the drill they needed to cut. By June 17th we had the loom all in. Then we had to drive/park on that for 2 weeks. No word from Jeff for awhile....phone calls go to voice mail. There was a point  where phone calls were rejected entirely. We had another Davis Paving customer stop by our house to ask us if we were able to get a hold of them. Finally fed up with playing phone tag I leave a message that basically says come and finish the job or we're going to have someone else come and do it. Again, it's not Jeff but Felix who calls and says that they will be here Friday, which at this point is JULY 17TH. And they kept their word, they came on the 17th and finished the job. And the driveway is beautiful. I have no complaints on the quality of their work so far but we haven't driven on it yet---it will be a week on Friday and we're waiting to put my much heavier vehicle up on the new driveway, especially where it has been so hot the last few days. Had a good rain storm and everything seems to drain properly and the sidewalk entry was done to code. I should say that I picked Davis Paving because of the relationship that they have with the town. Lionel Case was the code enforcer that I had spoken to about putting in this new driveway and he had a good relationship with Davis Paving as they do a lot of work for the city of Augusta. My complaint is definitely with communication. I am an understanding person if kept in the loop about everything that is happening and any setbacks. We paid Jeff on March 30th 2015 and the job wasn't finished until July 17th 2015. That's a pretty long time. And we know that we weren't the only ones waiting. Jeff himself told me he was finishing a job up the street the same day as ours. I wondered if they planned it like that on purpose. We are happy so far with the driveway but we haven't put it to much use yet so there may be a second review at a later date once we've had time to see how the driveway weathers the winter. <br />"

"Steve Violette removed old asphalt and discovered they needed to remove close to two feet of clay. Clay was replaced with 2 feet of crushed stone and compacted. Three inches of asphalt was applied and compacted. Due to removal of additional clay and replaced with additional crushed stone the final cost was $900.00 above original estimate. The final cost was equal to the highest original bid for the driveway work."

FAQs for concrete driveways & floors installation projects in West-farmington, ME

Polished concrete floors offer many benefits with very few drawbacks. While issues like discoloration, stains, or imprints may occur during pouring, these are rare when working with a skilled flooring contractor. Once polished, concrete floors are easy to maintain, long-lasting, and eco-friendly. They also resist mold and moisture, making them ideal for allergy-prone households, and offer versatile design options for both indoor and outdoor use.

Polished concrete flooring is often more affordable than tile. It involves lower material costs and less labor-intensive installation. Tile installations require additional leveling and preparation, which increases labor costs. Opting for concrete flooring helps reduce upfront expenses and provides a durable, stylish finish that saves money over time with minimal maintenance.

While epoxy flooring offers enhanced durability and toughness compared to polished concrete, it comes with higher material and labor costs. If budget is a top priority, polished concrete floors provide a resilient and attractive finish without the premium price tag, making them an ideal choice for value and long-term performance.

Polished concrete floors last 20 years or more when installed by licensed professionals and maintained with proper care. Their enduring finish withstands heavy use and remains visually impressive for decades. Regular deep cleaning and maintenance help safeguard the floor’s integrity, providing homeowners with a long-lasting, cost‐effective solution that endures daily wear without compromising style.

Polished concrete floors increase home value by offering a modern, sleek appearance and exceptional durability. A professionally installed floor not only enhances visual appeal but also minimizes maintenance expenses, making the property more attractive to prospective buyers. This flooring upgrade delivers a refined look while boosting overall market competitiveness and long-term property value.
