"Mike was excellent! I was concerned that I needed an entire roof replacement and despite him being extremely busy he came out in a matter of days. He was very honest and looking out for the customer. Thankfully I didn’t require a new roof after all but some gutter repair as they were overwhelmed with water and loosened from the house. Mike and his crew came out faster than expected and came to do the repairs prior to a big winter snow and ice storm to save them from further damage. Mike is kind, courteous, efficient, honest and funny. Would highly recommend and would absolutely hire him again if ever needed."

"I cannot say enough about what a great experience it has been to work with this company. From the communication, to the process, to the price. We needed a new roof for our home. Anthony, the owner, who is a very pleasant and likeable person, came to our house to perform the estimate. He didn’t try to dazzle us with how much he knows about roofing or imtimidate us with lingo we wouldn’t have any hope of understanding. Instead, my wife and I had a very nice discussion with him on what we needed, and Anthony laid out the plan for how it would go. When the big day came, the crew arrived right when they said they would, and courteously informed me of the plan for the day’s job. My wife and I both happened to have the day off so we were home for the entire roofing job. They covered up all of the windows, worked tirelessly throughout the day, and cleaned up perfectly afterward. Anthony came by a few days later to personally inspect the job his crew had done, and collect the final payment. Throughout the entire process, Anthony was very communicative and did everything he said he was going to do. I simpny cannot recommend WNY Roofing strongly enough. If you need a new roof, don’t even bother calling anyone else, just call them! Thank you so much for doing a wonderful job."

"Work went very well and beyond my expectations. Excellent workmanship and corning ware shingles and material used for roof replacement on house and garage. Tom and crew were very diligent, neat and comprehensive about their work. They worked in inclement weather and ensure completion of work without any delays. Tom was very responsive beginning with the estimate, throughout and until the completion of the work. Tom is very personable and professional and kept me apprised of all phases of the work. Fee was reasonable and no overcharges. Highly recommend Storm Roofing."

"Kris was very professional and courteous when he came to give the estimate. He was very upfront about the work that actually needed to be done and didnt try to oversell the job. When it came time for the work to be done his guys were very polite and cared about how they presented themselves on the job site. It was nice and clean when they left and had no issues with the work done. I recommend them to anyone who ask's if I know any roofers. Great company all-around!"

"It was on time. They did a great job cleaning up when they were done. Unless you saw they were working, you'd never know they were here. Usually have to hunt roofers down, never had to look for them. Always answered phone calls promptly. Very reliable."

FAQs for heating cable for roof installation projects in West Seneca, NY

A typical heat cable uses 5 watts per foot, regardless of the outside temperature. So, if your cable is 100 feet long, it uses 500 watts per hour. Expect to pay an additional $40 to $200 or more per month on your electricity bill. Be sure to turn manual cables off in the summer when you don't need them.

To install heat tape on your roof, place it along the lower edge in a precise zig-zag pattern to maximize coverage and heat distribution. Professional installers secure the tape with specialized clips that attach firmly to your shingles. This method ensures even heat distribution to effectively melt ice and snow while maintaining your roof's integrity during severe winter conditions.

Choosing between heated gutters and roof heating cables usually comes down to budget, appearance, and performance. Heated gutters cost less to install and blend seamlessly with your home’s exterior, making them a discreet, lower-cost option for preventing ice dams. Roof heating cables deliver more customizable and powerful heat along roof edges to handle heavy snow and ice, but they require more material and labor, increasing your upfront investment. Evaluate your roof design, winter weather demands, and energy budget to select the system that works best for your property.

Roof heating cables prevent ice dams by melting snow and stopping ice buildup at the roof edge. Ice damming occurs when melting snow refreezes on a cold roof—often right above the gutter line—and blocks water from draining, which can force moisture under shingles into your home. Heating cables maintain a warm channel that clears ice dams as soon as they form and protects your roof from water damage and structural issues.

Roof heating cables last between two and ten years before replacement is needed, wearing out faster than your roof itself. Their lifespan depends on climate severity, cable type, and exposure to physical damage. Consistent inspections and preventative maintenance—such as clearing debris, tightening clips, and checking electrical connections—can extend their service life and ensure reliable snow and ice protection each winter.

To safely remove snow from your roof, start with a specially designed roof rake, standing firmly on the ground and pulling snow downhill rather than climbing onto the roof. You can also apply calcium chloride ice melt to break up stubborn ice or gently use a secured rope from a safe vantage point.

Keep in mind that large snow slabs can weigh hundreds of pounds and pose a serious fall risk. If conditions are hazardous or you lack the right equipment, hire a professional to protect your safety and your roof’s integrity.
