"Weathertite did an amazing job all the way through. Installation of replacement gutters and downspouts excellent (and clean work as well!). Dave is an excellent sales manager, and he explained the Leaf X product so well. Also, special "shout out" to Joel who us a fabulous administrator. Highest recommendation to this team. Our house now has a nice added value with a permanent gutter solution (no clogs, no warped coverings)."

"Had dealt with Eric's dad some years ago about a new roof and he convinced me to wait. Called again a few months ago and Eric responded with an assessment of the roof. He recommended we replace as opposed to a large repair. Approx. 4K sq. ft. 3 story home. Price was below our target price. When it came to work being done neighbors even responded with compliments of a job well done. If your roofing needs include price, quality, service and a final walk through of work done, give Hazardville Roofing a call. Pleasant experience all around."

"Sonny, Al, and the team were fantastic. I had a very large tree fall on the house and damage a significant portion of my roof. They arrived quickly when first called to install an emergency roof tarp, preventing further damage to the house. Ultimately I decided to replace the entire roof and am so happy I did. They coached me through my shingle color decision, worked very efficiently, showed best in class professionalism, and the quality of the finished product was top notch. I’d work with the Albana team again anytime! I highly recommend Albana Roofing!"

"Gunner Roofing We used Gunner to replace shingles. They told us that if we upgraded the skylight to one that is solar powered we would get a tax credit of 30% of the entire job, a savings of over $2000. We weren't planning to replace the skylight but the numbers made sense. When we filed our taxes for that year we learned that the skylight they used did NOT qualify for the tax credit. They mislead us to spending an extra $2,500 on the job. When I called to complain I left a message but no one ever returned my call. This is after they didn't do a good job on the roof and it took them months to come back and fix the leaks they caused. STAY AWAY!! Show less"

"I've hired Patrick Kelly and his crew personally corporately and referred him. I own teddy bear pools and spas I know how hard it is to do work properly we do our best I can only tell you number one he's very honest has integrity and he does excellent work and he always follows up if there's any issue or concern. I would never write a review of five stars unless I sincerely felt that way. I encourage you if you want to do business with the roofer he would be the person I'd highly recommend Ted"

"Most awful company. They installed a new flat roof that that had a small leak where an adjacent sloped roof leaked. Millstream claimed only a new flat roof would resolve issue. The old flat roof had no leaks. The Millstream new flat roof has been leaking consistently since completion. They failed to properly supervise employees and refuse to make repairs. They blame the world but bury their heads to reality. The aesthetics of the job resembles something the 3 Stooges would have done. A mere sampling of photos attached. COMPANY IS TOXIC-STAY AWAY."

"I was amazed at how smoothly this went. Richie responded quickly, followed through and came by to check his crew's work and cleanup. The crew lead was great too. He asked if I had any questions before the work started and kept checking in with me if I had any questions during the work. I was especially concerned about the rain while the work was in progress, but Richie assured me they would not remove any shingles they could not replace the same day, and he kept that commitment. I highly recommend this company."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in West Suffield, CT

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
