"I highly recommend Garden Guys Landscaping. I worked with them for the first time this winter for snow removal and appreciated Jack?s prompt service and communication. This fall they dethatched my lawn in early September. The following week, they did the core aeration and overseeding for my lawn. I am very excited to see the full results of that next spring since the little grass sprouts started coming up really nicely. The crew that came to do the work was really nice, I believe their names were Jackson and Max. I told them that if they ever come back, I will definitely make them cookies. My lawn has always been decent but never great and I think this is a good next step. I think I may even have them aerate again in spring as I am bound and determined to have a good looking lawn. Fingers crossed."

"I'd used TruGreen in the past is why I chose them for my lawn care. I was originally set up on 4-6 week intervals to accomodate my financial needs. Everything was going as planned until I got a fertilization/weed control treatment & aeration in Sep within a week apart. I didn't realize what happened until I received the bill and contacted them to report a duplicated charge. I was told one of the charges included an aeration treatment and was a one time application indicated in the contract. This was not my understanding and must have been in very small print I could not read. When first asked about doing aeration, it was agreed to revisit in the fall. I was not asked, told or suggested this was being done so I got hit with that bill. Customer Service Rep was useless. Her resolution was to send someone out when I mentioned the service was incomplete since the gate was locked and the technician did not have access to my yard."

"While other tree removal firms were weeks or even months out from doing this project, Solari Property Care and Excavation got it done within the same week of being hired. They left the lot in excellent condition and ready for the builder to begin. Brandon Solari is smart, young, and got it done!"

"From the initial contact through the 3 weeks that it took to finish the job these gentlemen were awesome! <br /> They were here on time every day, cleaned up every day and paid attention to the smallest details. <br /> The lift they used tore up the front lawn and they sent one of their landscapers to take care of it after the job was done. <br /> Would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a big job to get done well. <br />"

"Zach and his crew are dependable, congenial and thorough. They know that I take great pride in my gardens and they keep them edged beautifully. Last spring they spread topsoil and seeded my front lawn. I was very pleased with the results since it needed grading. I highly recommend Dufort Landscaping."

FAQs for lawn care aeration projects in Westbrook, ME

Aeration is the best way to keep your lawn healthy and vibrant. Annual aeration makes your lawn more breathable and helps nutrients reach the roots, improving water absorption and reducing puddles where pests might breed. However, timing matters. It's best to avoid aerating during droughts, extreme heat, or if your lawn is battling weeds. A local pro can help you determine the ideal time for your yard.

Most lawns benefit from annual aeration to keep them healthy and thriving. If your lawn has a lot of thatch buildup—more than half an inch—you might need to aerate twice a year for a couple of years to get it under control. But if your soil isn't compacted and there's minimal thatch, you might be able to skip a year.

When you hire a professional lawn care company, a standard 10,000-square-foot lawn takes about 30 minutes to aerate. Uneven, sloped, or especially large lawns can take significantly more time. So, depending on your lawn's size and condition, the process can take anywhere from half an hour to several hours.

The best time to aerate your lawn is during the spring or fall when your grass is actively growing and the soil has enough moisture. Aerating once in the spring and once in the fall yields the best results. Avoid aerating when your lawn is dormant or right after heavy rain when the soil is too wet—that can make aeration less effective.

Even if your lawn looks healthy, aeration can still be beneficial. If you have good growth, proper drainage, and little thatch, you might not need to aerate right away. Regular aeration helps water and nutrients reach the roots, keeping your lawn strong over time. Keep an eye on your lawn's condition to decide when it might need aeration.
