Having seen Calahan's special here on AL, I gave them a call. My call was answered by Stacey who is the owner. I asked him questions about the special, when it could be done, etc. He was straight with me in regards to whether the advertised size would not work as a replacement for the unit we had. (The correct size was $400 more.) Still I thought it was a decent price for what the job entailed.
I have been "taken" by repair/maintenance companies before so now I tend to be somewhat cautious with purchasing a costly item. Calahan Construction is a member of the BBB with an A+ rating, no unresolved issues.
Next, I checked into the product they were selling. We could have spent much more or bought something for less. This unit was a good performer for the money spent with a decent warranty.
Calahan was able to schedule the job two days out (don't work on Sunday which I commend) with a rough time estimate of 1pm. After a telephone call stating they would arrive between 1 and 2, they were at the home at 1:30.
The floor was covered with drop-cloths to keep any potential mess to a minimum. Overall very clean operation.
Repairs were done as expected and in a little over 4 hours (compressor unit replacement and coil in attic) we were back in service.
The unit was let run for approximately 15 minutes and air temperature checks were made to verify it was working appropriately.
Small amount of clean-up and they were out the door.
A phone call the next day to do follow-up to make sure things were done to our satisfaction (yes, they were).
I enjoyed the working relationship with this company. Great service, good value for the money spent.
(We haven't had the unit long enough to tell if we will save any money in monthly costs. Hopefully we do.)
