"Quality work from this contractor. We looked at previous customer reviews when looking for who to work with for our siding replacement, and are happy to say that they lived up to the positive ratings for our project."

Customers say: Quick response

"They were very receptive to any ideas we had and any changes to the remodeling plan that we suggested. Their work is top-notch! The custom barn door (which they designed) was a beautiful addition to our custom coat closet / pantry. I would highly recommend them for any project you have."

"Great. My old tub was nasty, stained the finish dull. I checked other reviews for Cream City and very positive so I purchased through Angies List. They came in and assessed the condition, noted I had a couple loose tiles which they could take care of at a very reasonable cost. The refinishing was done in one day, they came back the following day. Awesome job. Highly recommend"

"I had an excellent experience. I met with Wendy the cabinet design person several times. She has some creative ideas for using the space in my kitchen and organizing and picking out the appropriate cabinets, as well as floor and painting suggestions. After we agreed upon the design Scott coordinated the construction and installation (Wendy visited several times to make sure things were going well). They coordinated a number of sub-contractors - bids - installation. Work was done on budget and on time. I was very happy with their professionalism and the professionalism of the contractors and subcontactors they coordinated."

"I had an old claw foot tub that was refinished by someone that didn't know what they were doing. The finish failed and was peeling terribly. It was peeling so bad that it would clog the drain. NuCoat said that they would be able to refinish the tub so that it looked like new and they did just that. They showed up on time, explained the process, and started working. I was dreading the clean up that most contractors leave you with but when they came to get me there was no mess and it looked like they installed a brand new antique style tub. I am so happy I was able to save the tub at a fraction of the cost of what a new one would cost. I would recommend to call NuCoat before you call a remodeler. That way you get to keep the quality cast iron tub instead of a new flimsy fiberglass one. You end up with the best of both worlds at a fraction of the cost."

"Don called me back promptly after I left a message requesting an estimate. He was flexible in his schedule both for coming out for the estimate, and for doing the work. He was very thorough in explaining to me what he would be doing, and how long it would take.
When Don came back with the refinished cabinets, he was not happy that some of them did not match well, as the store did not do a very good job of color matching the new stain to a sample. I noticed it as well, but I did not have to say anything... He asked me if it would be acceptable to me that he take some of the doors back and redo them. He called when he was finished and set up a time to reinstall them that would work with my schedule.
Don told me to call him if I had any issues or questions to contact him.
I recently called him because I was refinishing a bathroom cabinet and was having trouble stripping the stain. He called me back right away and gave me some tips.
I would definitely recommend Don to anyone who is having any woodwork refinished!"

FAQs for cabinets refinish projects in Whitewater, WI

To find the best cabinet refinishing expert for your project, start by researching local pros and reading reviews from previous customers. Reach out to a few contractors to discuss your cabinets' size, condition, and the look you're aiming for. Don't hesitate to ask for references or examples of their past work. Speaking with previous clients can give you valuable insights into the pro's workmanship and reliability.

When speaking with potential cabinet refinishing pros, consider asking them several questions to gauge their experience and professionalism. These questions can help you gauge the pro's experience and determine if they align with your needs.

 • Do you offer a guarantee on your work?

 • Can you create custom finishes or colors?

 • Do you have examples or samples of your past projects?

 • Are you able to match the finish to other cabinets in my home?

 • How long will the project take from start to finish?

Regular care will help maintain the beauty of your cabinets for years to come. To keep your refinished cabinets looking their best, follow these steps:

 • Use gentle cleaners: Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that can damage the finish. A simple mixture of warm water and mild dish soap works well.

 • Clean carefully: Instead of spraying solutions directly onto the cabinets, apply them to a soft microfiber cloth and wipe gently.

 • Protect from heat and moisture: Try to minimize exposure to excessive heat or moisture, which can affect the finish over time.

It's usually less costly to refinish cabinets than to replace them, depending on the cabinet condition. Refinishing cabinets cost an average of $3,114 while replacing cabinets is about $5,000 or more. When deciding to refinish or replace cabinets, consider several factors, including how old your cabinets are, your budget, and whether you need to complete any other renovation projects at the same time.

It may be worth resurfacing (also known as refacing) your cabinets if they’re in good shape but you’re interested in a different look. This is often less expensive than replacing cabinets outright and can allow you to update the look of your cabinets to reflect your kitchen’s current style without having to get rid of them entirely. The cost to reface cabinets is around $4,300 to $10,000, and you can hire a local cabinet refacing pro to handle this work.

Refinishing cabinets takes about two to three days to complete. The process begins with removing cabinet doors, drawers, and hardware, followed by cleaning, stripping, and sanding the surfaces. Any chips, stains, or splits are repaired before applying paint or stain. After applying the finish, the cabinets are reassembled, and the workspace is cleaned up, leaving your cabinets refreshed and renewed.
