"What we expected to be an 8-week project ballooned into a 16-week project, delayed largely by rainy weather and perhaps some mis-scheduling on the company's end as it juggles multiple projects. Be aware that your project's projected timeframe may very likely be extended; Abedin is in high demand. This was the most frustrating part of the process, having the project at a standstill with a large 3-storey scaffolding out front blocking sunlight and bags of cements and other work items in the courtyard. However, whenever I did call Abedin to find out the status and when work would resume, he was readily accessible and responsive. The craftsmanship is exemplary and it's apparent that the workers are highly skilled and take great pride in their work. I also greatly appreciated that the workers cleaned the site daily after working. This is HUGELY important because the worksite is also my home and not an uninhabited construction site. This meant a great deal to me and Abedin was often on site or sent a supervisor on site to assist and inspect. Abedin is hands-on and has high standards, which keeps the works not only focused and accountable, but motivated. Here's an important tip: where possible, throughout the process, protect your historic fence and railings with a drop cloth because they, like the courtyard's surface, will be battered. Abedin promised to repaint after the work was completed and his guys did, but the repainting job did not match the quality of restoration work we had previously paid for with the ironwork restoration contractor. Despite the setbacks and extended project time, my husband and I are extremely happy with our restoration project and the craftsmanship. Our brownstone looks completely transformed and historic and beautiful! Should we have future brownstone restoration needs, Abedin will definitely be our choice. Thank you."

"I highly recommend Roca Construction.  Mr. Roca showed up with his team ? on time and ready to work. 

He carefully sealed off the room from the rest of the house to minimize dust in my home and began demolition.  The thorough clean up after the demo by his crew was much appreciated.  Then the room was fully insulated.  They even uncovered a channel that went al the way up to the second floor between the walls that had never had insulation before. Mr. Roca suggested that they build in a box to contain the insulation and properly insulate the upper floor room.  This to an extra day and he did it at a fair and very small increase to the bill. I am sure that the savings to our gas bill will make up for the small increase in price. The new second floor certainly made the  second floor room much warmer immediately. They insulated the room they were renovating very thoroughly - cleverly reusing some of the insulation that had been there before. 

Then they framed in a new subfloor and replaced sheetrock where it needed replacing. They installed a new wooden floor ? thinking through how the longest pieces of wood should be used.  They also framed in a new ceiling replacing the ugly plywood fake beadboard with beautiful real beadboard - which comes in 2-board slats. It is a lot of work to install this material. Then the entire room was primed and painted.  Using window trim that we specially ordered from a lumber yard - milled to match the other trim in our house, they did a perfect job mitering the corners. They also, installed cove molding - which was constructed from three different cove molding pieces (complicated) as to match the historic cove molding. Then the  final painting was completed.

Mr. Roca is an excellent contractor. His team is professional, highly skilled, responsive, careful, and neat.  They are real perfectionist. The mitered corners were skillfully completed. The floor and ceiling beautiful and level, and the paint job was perfect.  The sidewalk and apron paving was also perfect ? so well done that five of our neighbors hired Roca to re-do their sidewalks too. Now we have a whole block of beautiful sidewalks. 
 
Mr. Roca's team are friendly and quiet. They cleaned up the job site each evening.  They have a good work ethic and show up on time. They did not rush the work and as a result  their work product was excellent too.  The job took about 3 weeks. 

We are very picky about renovations on our historic home. We have fired more than one contractor over the years. My husband is an amateur woodworker - he is very picky about work on the house. "Me and my husband decided to use A1 painting after considering several other offers. Our initial meeting with jade the owner went very well. I felt very comfortable with her, and I personally liked the fact that it was a female owned business. I was also sold on the fact that she had a solid time line in mind, and exactly what it would take to get the job done. She wasn't pushy about colors and style. She actually sent us to the paint store that she uses and had us speak to a paint expert to help us with our color decision. But to be fair our house was very old and the siding was very dry so it took more paint than was anticipated. They also made some repairs and repainted the deck which came out great. We kept our original color for the deck. Jade also made us acquainted with her husband who has his own business as well. He did molding around our back door and windows, which also came out great. In conclusion, there were some hiccups along the way, but Jade was quickly available to deal with any and all issues. We had her direct number and she responded immediately with a resolution to the problem. The house came out looking great, and Her work came with a warranty.
