"During a recent Hail Storm, our roof was damaged. I had inadvertently bumped into MD's project manager and asked for a roof inspection. Sure enough, our roof had incurred major damage. Rich Gentile our Project Manager, explained how to proceed with our claim. His patience and know-how from start to finish were exemplary. Installation to clean-up went off without a hitch. There's a reason MD Roofing is Five Stars. Honesty and Integrity still go a long way in this world. If you need a new roof, don't hesitate to call MD Roofing, you will not regret it."

"OMG!! SOOO WELL and BETTER than i could ever have hoped for. I don't usually post reviews but I TOTALLY jumped at this opportunity to RAVE about JA MITCHELL and his crew at Southern Style Roofing, Inc. You will NEVER have to hire another roofer if you hire Ja and his team for your roofing needs! He not only responds to calls/texts within 24 hours or less, he does everything in his power to meet your needs and timeline. He makes every client feel like they are a priority. He's very knowledgeable, professional and courteous. There are not enough words to describe how awesome Ja is both as a roofing contractor and person. All around nice guy. If you have roofing needs, you don't need to call anyone else - run, don't walk to your phone and give Ja at Southern Style Roofing a call ASAP!"

"New windows installed March 2019, siding replaced May 2019, gutters replaced/facia & soffit repair August 2019 and new roofing installed April 2020 at daughter's house in NC. Derek Harts (owner) worked well with me even though I was in another state (KY). Fair price and professional work. Pleasure working with Derek and his crews. Highly recommend."

"This was the third time I've hired Thomas Trades for home improvements, and they come through like champs every time. The work is done to a professional finish, with detail as suits the homeowner. They do not work until it's "good enough" - they work until it is finished properly. We need more people in this industry like Josh Thomas. He is on my go-to list whenever I need renovations and repairs to my home."

"Jonathan and crew did a nice job. I wanted four trees trimmed. Three were extending over our roof or screened patio. They did a particularly good job on a large Crepe Myrtle. Jonathan asked if I wanted to stay outside (socially distant) as work was being done to ensure they were doing what I had requested (this made sense as he didn't walk it with me during the quote process). Jonathan would ask if I was happy with what was being done and if there was anything they missed and offered suggestions. At the end of the work they picked up and removed all of the trimmed branches (and it was a lot). That alone would have taken me most of a day to do on my own. In addition to the on-site work, the proposal process was very smooth. I walked the yard with Brian and was able to talk to the office (Lina) when needed."

"<p>The roofers worked efficiently and neatly.  They cleaned up the property perfectly.  The job was completed in the time frame that we requested.  </p> <p>The pricing of the roof was very competitive.</p> <p>The most compelling reason to use this company was the help of the owner Allan Schroeder in determining our requirements for NCIUA mitigation of insurance rates. He was very knowledgeable about these very specific specs to obtaint a Bronze, Silver, or Gold certificate for a reduction of windstorm insurance rates in NC. We are applying for the bronze certificate. Other roofing companies, including the most expensive, were not familiar with these requirements.  Mr. Schroeder supplied me with the paperwork to apply for the mitigation.</p>"

"We selected Ray Rinardo's company based on previous Angie List reviews. We knew nothing about his company and hoped that the reviews were accurate. We were not disappointed. The owner was courteous, consistent, honest, timely and lived up to every aspect of the contract we executed. From start to finish, everything Ray Rinardo promised, he and his staff delivered. Not only did he and his staff perform his job as promised, he fixed prior contractors poor quality without hesitation and without asking for additional money. Discussions with Ray during the job confirmed that he would rather turn down a job than do it poorly. Ray used quality materials and installed it better than any roof I have ever seen installed. I have had several bad experiences with contractors in the past and am now very hesitant in allowing just anyone to work on my property. Ray Rinardo provided insurance verification, contractor licenses and transacted the bid process in a way that every other contractor should emulate. If you are looking for a roofer in the Lafayette area I would recommend Ray Rinardo without hesitation. We received everything we asked for from Ray Rinardo and more. Thank you Ray and your staff."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Wilmington, NC

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
