"I hired DC Roofing to complete a project for me, and DJ showed up when he said he would, and gave me an honest competitive quote that I thought was fair and honest. During the project the job site was cleaned up every day and the property was totally usable. At the end of the project the roof looked AMAZING! I will refer DJ with DC Roofing to anyone who asks!"

"I'm so happy with my roof. <br /> I have been watching it rain and see absolutely no drips, runs or issues!  The solar tubes were installed with expert care.  <br /> One of my solor tubes had an issue, so instead of installing it, they informed me and gave me the option to get a new one. <br /> Wayne and crew were great.  They were flexible to my schedule, and were easy to work with. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"The company was very informative and efficient, and we are happy with both the aesthetic and practical results. We are also happy to have a greater sense of security about the danger posed by fire, which has been a worry because we live in a forested area far from emergency services. The workers were polite and professional and cleaned up the site pretty well. It was expensive, but we're very satisfied with the work."

"Our roof was leaking and I called one of the local roofing companies. They never showed up. Then I did Angie's list search and decided to go with Clark's Roofing. He came out, looked at the roof and was ready to start the job immediately. He explained what needed to be done and gave a job quote within a day. His team replaced the roof/gutters within a week in a frigid cold weather (it was January). They cleaned up everything. The roof looks great! Thank you. <br />"

"Greg and Dina Smith are delightful people. Greg is a self-admitted and quot;over-bookerand quot;, so he isn't always able to call or show up when he says he will; but once he and his very capable and personable crew get started, they stick with it until the job is done. And the job is done very well. I highly recommend Arrowhead Roofing for absolutely all of your flat-roof needs. I had a couple other little (somewhat) roof-related jobs that needed to be done--they volunteered to take care of that for me, as well. Great job, wonderful people. <br />"

"Mr. Haas identified problems in our roof installation and issued a report. He suggested re-install and steps that we should take to get it done. It was a long process that involved county and DPOR. Mr. Haas was very helpful every step during the entire process. He is highly experienced and very responsive to our calls, text, and email. We eventually got the roof reinstalled in a very good quality. Mr. Haas was onsite multiple times to ensure the right materials and methods were used. It would not be possible without the help from Mr. Haas."

"Installation and painting of the siding went well.  I was not home to see the work in progress.  Siding was installed in late March.  Painting occurred in first half of April after a rainy period ended.  Last part of the job is to install a new cover on top of the chase and that has not gone all that well.  I had to call and email several times and was told that last task kept falling through the cracks. On June 1, finally met with contractor and sub-contractor, who took the needed measurements.  Still waiting for the cover to be fabricated and installed as of 15 June 2015.  I'm uncertain if I would use this contractor again.  Initially things went pretty well and the contractor has always been polite and apologize for the delays, but the prolonged delays in finishing the full job have been frustrating. <br />"

"LMJ Contracting and Howard Felix did an excellent job from start to finish.  Before the job, Howard came out a few times to bring us shingle samples.  He was patient and once we chose the shingle we wanted, he provided us with a reasonable and complete quote on the work to be done.  We did pay extra to have more nails securing the shingles as we do sometimes have high winds in the area.  It cost more than we thought it should but we did opt for this feature for the benefits. <br /> The work start a few days late, but that was due to the delivery schedule of the shingle distributor.  Once the work started, the job was completed in about a week.  His roofers doing the actual work were courteous and professional.  About the only negative aspect, although minor, was that a ladder was left overnight propped to the side of the house that could have given access to anyone wanting to get on the roof and enter through the second story.  After talking with them, this did not occur again. <br /> Upon my limited visual inspection, the job was done very well with attention to detail.  Clean up was excellent, with no trash and no nails left.  There was a box of unused shingles that was left for any future repairs. <br /> Overall, I would highly recommend LMJ Contracting and Howard Felix to anyone wanting to have their roofing replaced.  We did recommend LMJ to several of our immediate neighbors wanting to replace their roofing.  They also had the same positive experience. <br /> Note:  we had a storm recently which for three days brought sustained winds of 40 mph and gusts up to 65 mph.  As far and I can see, the roofing held up well.  I can't say the same for a section of our fencing which was blown down (not installed by LMJ Contracting). <br />"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Winthrop, WA

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
