"We interviewed 4 landscapers before settling on Paul Schwarz Nursery. I gave them a B for price because their pricing was right in the middle. Good price, but of course we all want to pay less. They have an A+ for everything else! And I guess they are worth every penny. Mike created a plan for working with our existing landscape to replace our crumbling retaining wall. He coordinated with the county for permits, which ended up being a laborious adventure, as our previous existing deck would not meet the current setback requirements. Mike was extremely creative and came up with an entirely new plan for us and in the end I am so happy that we ran into problems because what we have now is so much better than before. Their company has done a lot of lakeside work and knows more about the codes and requirements than the county probably does. <br /> Mike went out of his way to incorporate small details that will allow us to have flexibility and make changes down the road. For example: the patio that they installed abuts a screened in porch. This current porch is on the rickety side and Mike anticipated that one day we might want to make changes to it. He planned ahead for this by setting the raw edge of the patio stones up against the porch wall so that if we ever make changes to the porch or want to run the stone all the way to the house foundation, we can continue the stone pattern right through. This is not something that I would have thought of. <br /> Originally we had planned for the work to start in the later part of the summer last year, but because of unplanned setbacks by the county, we decided to delay our project until spring. Mike had taken photos of our garden last year and was able to use the photos to find all the perennials and dig them out to save them--they were still dormant when they started work this spring. Mike's appreciation and knowledge of plant/trees was one of the reasons I felt comfortable working with their company. <br /> The crew surprised us with thoughtful details like adding an electrical outlet and lights. The design of our new yard is completely transforming. We are able to use and enjoy every inch our our yard and I am amazed how I find myself pulled into the landscape like never before. I thank Mike for his creativity and attention to small details. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"We found this company through a home show in Iowa City.  Mike came out the very next week and gave us a bid.  Once we made our decision and decided on a time that would work for both of us, they kept to the schedule and had the deck and pergola built in 4 days.  Mike Lovewell was very knowledgeable and gave us some good ideas for the deck which we really like.  The builders were very professional and cleaned they whole area every day when they were done.  Would highly recommend them for a quality deck. <br /> <br />"

"We received 8 new windows and they are amazing! We first had someone come out to our house and he went through everything with us and showed us a demonstration of the window! That man was so nice and answered all the questions we had he even came back again with little toy cars for my 2 boys! How sweet is that? We received our windows quickly after and they were installed in a fast manner! That gentleman was also very nice and did awesome work! We are very very happy and satisfied with our windows!"

"We did a DIY replacement of our living room drywall.  We also taped and mudded the joints ourselves.  Our DIY tape job almost immediately started cracking, peeling, and popping out of the dried mud.  <br /> So we hired Leffler's to repair the bad drywall joints.  They replaced all the joint tape and re-mudded it.  They also filled holes and repaired torn drywall paper throughout the room.  It now has a professional finish that looks drastically better than our DIY job.  <br /> Leffler's also skim coated over an old 1980's textured wall surface in our bedroom.  Their drywall finisher did an outstanding job.  He coated over the old texture to a perfectly smooth finish, leveled big lumps that were on most of the ceiling's drywall joints, and leveled big bumps that were around the light switch and outlets.  Our light switch and outlet covers now sit flush against the wall for the first time.  <br /> Highly recommend Leffler's skim coating to anybody who wants to smooth out and level a textured wall surface.  <br /> Price was for a 23 X 13 foot living room and 11 X 11 foot bedroom. <br />"

"Had the pleasure of reaching out to these folks to go ahead and add top soil to he back yard.  Its always had a dip in the middle and rains could often turn it into a swamp.   <br /> I contacted them via their website late at night.  Got a response the next morning.   I live a bit out of the Quad Cites.  They said that would not be an issue and offered to stop by on the weekend. <br /> They called ahead of time, arrived promptly.  Were friendly and offered a great price.  They suggested the next weekender.  <br /> They contacted me prior the weekend to make sure everything was still good for a Sunday installation.  They also called me in the morning of the installation to let me know right about when they would be there. <br /> They brought in GREAT looking black soil.  True Illinois farm soil the way you want it to look. <br /> They spend several hours bring in loads of dirt.  I believe they actually brought in more then they charged me for, but they wanted to make sure it looks good.  They then brought in a small tractor and in less then an hour had a great looking grade in place. <br /> Prior to leaving they let me know to call them if there were issues and also let me know that if additional items were needed with the back yard area, they had those tools and could make it happen. <br />"

FAQs for interlocking pavers for patios, walks & steps installation projects in Woodhull, IL

To calculate your paver needs:

  • Determine how many pavers cover a square foot.

  • Determine how many square feet you need.

  • Add an additional 10% to 20% for breakage and waste.

  • Consider your pavers’ sizes.

Or, you can hire a local pro who you know will get the right measurements the first time. This way, you get your weekend back instead of spending it measuring square footage.

A pallet of pavers costs $300 to $700 on average, and each pallet covers 56 square feet. The exact price depends on the type, size, and quantity of pavers you choose. Buying in bulk can sometimes offer additional savings, especially for larger projects. Ask your pro how you can save on material costs.

To get the best prices on pavers:

  • Hire a professional landscaper: Pros often receive discounts on materials, which can make hiring them more cost-effective overall.

  • Shop at local building supply stores: Check for overstock or bulk purchase deals. Bulk purchasing can be more costly up front but save you money in the long run.

  • Buy directly from manufacturers: Purchasing from a local brickyard or paver factory can offer competitive prices, especially for large quantities.

The main difference between driveway pavers and patio pavers is their load-bearing capacity. Driveway pavers are designed to withstand the weight of vehicles, whereas patio pavers aren’t suitable for such heavy loads. You can use driveway pavers for a patio, but using patio pavers for a driveway could lead to damage. Always check the weight limits of pavers and consult with a professional installer to choose the right type for your project.

Paver patios cost more than concrete patios because the materials and installation methods require advanced techniques and skilled labor. They deliver enhanced aesthetic appeal and allow for easier small‑scale repairs without affecting property taxes. The higher expense arises from premium paver materials and intricate installation processes that deliver long‑lasting durability and design flexibility. This robust solution provides notable benefits over concrete alternatives, making it a valuable investment for homeowners.
